Whoa: Generic Congressional Ballot Preference Narrows to 4% Difference
Republican support up three points. Narrowing the 7 point gap to a doable 4 point difference.
And at the link, Michael Barone reports that the death of the GOP in Virginia have been greatly overstated.
Bush became unpopular mainly not due to ideology, but because he was viewed as a poor manager who screwed things up.
Obama and the Democrats are replicating that great mistake by championing this wastrel spendulus bill. The GOP can and should win on this -- just by convincing the public that they once again, finally, care about how taxpayer money is being spent.
Obama and the liberals have misdiagnosed the "mandate" they were given. They think the mandate was for a dramatic change in basic governing ideology -- they think the public is clamoring for spending and socialism, and don't give a crap about the details.
They're badly wrong as recent polling suggests. The public really didn't change its basic center-right take. They just want better management of that center-right philosophy.
Heh: Now that the Spendulus Bill has dropped in popularity to the level of the war in Iraq, do you think reporters will begin referring to it (as they did with the war) as "the President's deeply unpopular spending package?"
Just curious. Well, not really.
Thanks for both to Larwyn.
