This is pretty famous, and yeah, really old. But as we're on the topic (light language warning):
PS: Another thing Gilliam talked about in the commentary to Holy Grail was that the Cambridge guys were very verbal oriented in their humor, whereas the Oxford guys were "more conceptual."
I don't know it for a fact, but the incredlible lameness of this sketch -- a "conceptual one" to be sure -- and the fact that Jones stars in it tells me Jones is responsible for it.
Horrible. When people remember Python fondly, they felicitiously forget the show was filled with Terry Jones Crap like this. To again go to a Beatles analogy -- letting Jones put on horribly unfunny, stupid sketches like this was an act of mercy not unlike Paul and John letting Ringo warble one song like "Act Naturally" per album.
The Best of Terry Jones: A sequence featuring him in bit parts in decent sketches (like Spanish Inquisition) and horrible parts whenever he's in the lead.
The fish, fish, fishie-fish bit from Meaning of Life wasn't really funny, but I do admit it was freaky.
Was This Ever On The Show? I've never seen this bit except in clips from the Secret Policeman's Ball and the Python live tours. Maybe it came from an album.
