Well, yeah. The left wants Bush to lose in Iraq as a political repudiation of Republicans, but also simply wants America to lose in Iraq as a "teachable moment" about the limits of hyperpower hegemony.

It's always been this way. They wanted us to lose in Afghanistan, too, and they're not happy to see American power being used against hardcore American-killing Al Qaeda in Somalia, either.
