Pentagon seeks bids to monitor Mid East media coverage [Dave in Texas]
Which is a damn shame, but I can't say I blame them.
We have a saying around where I work. We'll all share in the glory together but if you screw up you're on your own pal. I don't know you.
No wait. That's not the one. It's uhm, oh yeah. Toot your own horn, cause nobody's gonna do it for you. If you want the story told you better start telling it yourself.
Rob, over at Say Anything blog:
Given the reality of media coverage of the war in Iraq and the middle east in general the idea of the Pentagon spending money to keep track of - and hopefully vigorously refute - the inaccuracies and gross misrepresentations perpetuated by the media just makes sense.
Well he's right. To ignore the evidence of willful distortion and malicious "looking the other way" by the MSM takes serious commitment.
One item from the article itself:
The military last year was criticized for a public relations program in Iraq that included hiring a consulting firm that paid Iraqi news media to carry news stories written by American troops.
Why exactly does that deserve criticism? They weren't accused of making up shit. Just telling it.
They don't want to debate you. They want you to shut up. See: Fairness Doctrine.
