I'm in on a Friday, and not too worried about it. I'm blogging outside and listening to crickets.

I'm kind of in the boonies, and the crickets are a nice change of pace. At least, that is, until I begin to go bananas from the isolation.

Checking out my gmail box, I see some other bloggers are at home or at least were at home until recently.

Blogging is all sorts of glamorous.

Isn't it funny that within minutes of mentioning Glenn Greenwald a Rio de Janeiro IP shows up?

But yeah, that's the Magic Cabana Boy. He's just obsessed with googling "Glenn Greenwald" twenty four hours a day.

Does "sprezzatura's" defending of Lee Siegel seem similar to "Ellison's" passionate defense of Glenn Greenwald? You be the judge:

You have quite an obsession with Siegel! Sounds to me like you're an envious young writer. I mean, first you have a wife and two kids, and now you're a poor young lawyer with time to write extended tirades against Siegel. ... Every young writer in NYC has it in for poor Siegel it seems. Siegel also played Greenwald's game of explicitly claiming not to be Siegel. Remember how one of Greenwald's puppets had to "email Glenn" in order to get a response/reply to a question?

Well, Lee Siegel seems to prove that when you're basically engaging in puffery, many prefer to do it under a sock-puppet alias.

"jhschwartz" seems to have nailed him. After arguing with "sprezzatura" (those quotes above were in reply to "jhschwartz"):

Googling "sprezzatura" and TNR yields really interesting results. sprezzatura appears only to weigh in on TNR forums to admonish and taunt posters who dislike Lee Siegel and to praise in lavish terms the piece under discussion, in all but one case, written by Lee Siegel.

A sampling from the Siegel threads:

"to jfabermit . . . You're obsessed. You need a life, some love, some medication."

"Siegel is my hero: [. . .] Siegel is brave, brilliant, and wittier than [Jon] Stewart will ever be. Take that, you bunch of immature, abusive sheep."

I would say with 99% confidence that "sprezzatura" is a Siegel alias.

Same tip-offs as with Greenwald. Same thing happened here with Ellison-- someone posting as "Glenn Greenwald's Keyboard" immediately claimed Ellison was Greenwald (and was, of course, quite right).

Look, only one person in the world is as committed to defending you as you are, and that's you.
