Unprecedented: Alaskans Want To Give Back Pork To Help Katrina Victims

$315 M is to be spent on a "bridge to nowhere" linking a tiny community with an even tinier island which sports a very minor local-hop airport.

I wanted to bring to your attention several news articles and letters-to-the-editor that were recently penned by citizens of Alaska. Those who follow politics are well aware that Alaska gets an outsized share of pork, or wasteful pet projects, from its elected officials in Washington.
In short, a number of selfless Alaskans are offering to give back their pork â€“ including the oft-maligned $315 million â€œbridge to nowhereâ€ â€“ in order to help pay for the costs of Hurricane Katrina.
