NYT Edits: Needing Today's Attack To Be The Worst Ever, It Downgrades Bridge-Stampede Tragedy
A little bit of verbal legardemain is used for this purpose. See, today's attack resulted in the largest "death-toll" since 2003, while the bridge stampede merely resulted in the biggest "loss of life."
See? One's a death-toll, the other's a loss of life. So today's attack represents the greatest death-toll.
Kinda like its reporting on Bush's poll numbers, where every poll is headlined "Bush Support Drops." If his support rises, the headline is some "deep analysis" of the poll, like "60% of Americans Think Chewbacca is Just a Big Ripoff of Bigfoot."
