Biden Announces He Would Commit US Troops to Defend Taiwan Against China;
White House Rushes Out Statement That The "President" Does Not Speak for the U.S. Government

Incredible. Incredible.

Relations between China and Taiwan have been mediated for decades by a policy of "strategic ambiguity" about whether the US would defend Taiwan from an attempt at forcible "reunification" by China.

The US is not supposed to say we would defend them, because our diplomacy with China contains promises that we will not encourage Taiwan to declare its independence from China. (Taiwan-China relations are governed by the so-called "Three Noes:" No reunification with China in the "short term," no formal declaration of independence, no use of force.)

A US guarantee that we would defend Taiwan would encourage Taiwan to violate the "no declaration of independence" part of the three Noes, so we avoid doing so, to avoid provoking China, to avoid having to defend Taiwan in the first place.

This is all very muddled and sloppy but China's political culture demands "face-saving." The possibility of "reunification" of Taiwan must be left open as a hypothetical possibility, or else they might start rattling the saber more than usual.

Or worse.

But "President" Aviators always wants to sound like a tough guy, and also is a f***ing idiot who has lost most control of his faculties, so he decided to announce that the US had at the spur of the moment changed its Taiwan policy from "strategic ambiguity" to a formal promise to defend them:

As you can see, this then forced the White House to once again rush out a statement contradicting the president it supposedly serves, announcing that whatever the Figurehead Puddingbrain claims on TV when he wants to sound like Magnum, P.I., he spoke without authorization and his words are null and void.

Asked to comment, a White House spokesperson said U.S. policy towards Taiwan had not changed.

"The president has said this before, including in Tokyo earlier this year. He also made clear then that our Taiwan policy hasn't changed. That remains true," the spokesperson said.

Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning told a regular briefing in Beijing that Biden's comments sent a "seriously wrong signal" to separatists forces for Taiwan independence.

China was "strongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposed" to Biden's comments and had lodged a formal complaint over it, she said, warning that China reserves the right to take all necessary measures to counter separatism.

Taiwan's foreign ministry expressed its thanks to Biden for his reaffirming of the "U.S. government's rock-solid security commitment to Taiwan".

From "strategic ambiguity" to a "rock-solid security commitment to Taiwan" in 0.3 seconds, thanks to the barely-functioning brain of a man who is unlikely to live to see the consequences of his words.

How many times will the "President" be contradicted by a White House which then announces, "The 'President' was not speaking on behalf of the U.S. government he supposedly leads"? And how many times will the media cover this up and pretend it's no big deal, it's just a standard part of the "President"-White House dynamic?

What would happen if President Trump had done this?

"President" Late Life Crisis got angry, almost as if he's an Angry Old Man with dementia with diminished executive function of the brain, when his spin on inflation was challenged:

Finally, "President" Corvette Winter declared that the pandemic was over, to help him politically.

That's a nice message to help him in the midterms, but it's bad for his legal claims to have the power to cancel student debt due the special powers he claims he has due to the "covid emergency" we're still under:

President Biden's declaration on 60 Minutes that the pandemic is over--which his administration also argued when ending Title 42 back in May--confirms the illegality of his attempt to transfer hundreds of billions of dollars of student debt to the taxpayer.

If the "pandemic" is over, and covid is just a "problem" we're dealing with, there is obviously no "emergency," and thus no emergency power Biden can claim to cancel student debt.

This whole claim was preposterous in the first place -- a law giving permission to delay the repayment of college loans for military personnel somehow being extended to non-military personnel -- but this admission by "President" Felonyfingers will help in the coming lawsuits.
