Three "Students" Arrested for Threatening to Murder the President

CNN won't cover this.

But I do remember CNN hyperventilating that a meme showing Trump beating up a wrestler with "CNN" superimposed upon his head was an unbearable threat to kill a reporter, and that a Trump crowd chanting "CNN Sucks!" was a direct threat against noted tough-guy mike-grabbing-woman-harasser Jim Acosta.

Three University of South Alabama students accused of threatening President Donald Trump on social media were allowed to return home Monday as their federal cases moved toward possible grand jury review.

Cameron Lewis, Kayla Smith and Amare Woods had been arrested Friday, the same day Trump traveled to the university's Mitchell Center for a political rally in Mobile.

All three waived their preliminary hearings Monday, WKRG reported. They were released from custody and must report to a probation officer while the cases remain pending.

The arrests followed an FBI review of social media activity surrounding Trump's planned visit. The FBI's Mobile Division said agents arrested three people for threatening communications directed at the president in coordination with the Secret Service and several local agencies.

The cases involve separate posts attributed to the students in the days before Trump's Oct. 2 appearance.

Woods, an aerospace engineering student from Saraland, is accused of responding to a TikTok post about Trump's upcoming visit with the comment, "he gotta die bro."

Lewis, a resident assistant studying biology, is accused of making two posts on X. Court records described by WKRG included one encouraging Trump's killing and another suggesting the University of South Alabama would be remembered in the same way as Utah Valley University, where conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated.

Smith, an elementary education student from Birmingham, is accused of responding to a TikTok post about Trump's visit with, "we only got one chance, let's take it," accompanied by an image of a person holding a gun.

Another "student" said that their school would soon be like Utah Valley University, where Charlie Kirk was murdered by another deranged left-wing terrorist.

Woods' attorney, Jason Darley, has challenged whether his client's comment amounts to a criminal threat.

Darley told FOX10 there would be a genuine question over whether Woods' statement was merely a comment or legally constituted a threat.

He described Woods as an 18-year-old with no criminal history and said the student never intended to harm anyone.

"When you're a student at the school where the president is coming to visit, the timing was horrible," Darley said.
