Accused killer grandma attacked trans NYT exec when his son started wearing sister's dresses: explosive court docs

A grandmother who allegedly gunned down her transgender New York Times executive son-in-law accused him of inspiring her grandson to wear his sister's dresses, court documents show.

Jonathan McKinsey, the newspaper's head of engineering for games player experience, was allegedly killed by his elderly in-laws, Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77, on Saturday. They allegedly took turns shooting McKinsey in the parking lot of a park in Dublin.

Chen visited McKinsey and his wife, Candice Jang, to watch their children in 2023, a restraining order filed by McKinsey against Jang said.

Chen noticed McKinsey's son Wyatt had begun asking to wear his sister Alexis' dresses, a "phase" he was going through, McKinsey said, according to the records.

She then began allegedly berating him for the behavior, calling the young child a "disgusting queer" and a "pervert." Chen also allegedly hit McKinsey's young son in the back of the head when he asked.

When McKinsey begged her to stop, Chen turned her ire to the New York Times employee, who was transgender and transitioned from female to male in 2010, according to the documents.

She then called McKinsey the same names, the restraining order alleged.

The "trans" NYT "game journalist" reportedly physically abused his wife and child. And he says she told him to kill himself.

McKinsey also accused his wife of abuse in their relationship, including an episode where she pushed him to try to commit suicide, the documents say.

McKinsey claimed Jang told him he should kill himself because "no one would want to be with someone as f--ked up and transgender like me."

Jang first filed a restraining order against McKinsey last year, alleging he "threatened to kill me and my parents."

Alameda County prosecutors also charged him with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse after an incident where he allegedly hit their six-year-old son in the face with an open hand.

Jang also told investigators about a 2018 domestic violence incident, where McKinsey bruised her left arm, the charging documents say.
