German Chancellor Merz: Sending Aliens Back to Their Home Country Would be "Ethnic Cleansing"

Last year, Merz signed a supposedly hardline bill against further illegal immigration.

He didn't mean a word of it, of course. He is attempting to create a paper trail showing he accepts the popular judgment on unending mass migration from the third world, while not taking any action to actually stop it.

As AfD grows in support, he will attempt further fake demonstrations of his commitment to enforce the border.

Germans must not believe him when he inevitably lies. His true feelings are that deporting any "asylum" seekers or illegal aliens is "ethnic cleansing."

Obviously he is never, ever going to do something he views as being on par with shipping the Jews to Dachau.

But he will claim he's willing to do this, as his party, and all the rest of the corrupt Regime parties, lose further support.

Germany's sovereigntist, anti-mass-migration Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) party pulled off a historic result in state elections in Saxony-Anhalt at the weekend, pushing the country's longstanding default party of government the Christian Democrats (CDU) into a distant second and leaving all other parties as also-rans. The result has sent shock waves through German politics and brought the leadership of national Chancellor Friedrich Merz into question, which seems to have sent the otherwise mild-mannered lawyer into a tailspin of despair, in which he has made increasingly outlandish threats and comments against the AfD, painting them as an outright threat to the German nation.

On Wednesday, Merz responded to one of the flagship policies of the AfD -- that migrants who are in Germany illegally should actually be made to leave, rather than endlessly tolerated -- to call it ethnic cleansing. The charge has obvious historic connotations in Germany and caused something of a firestorm. Merz said on Wednesday that the party's "remigration" policy is "nothing other than ethnic cleansing based on skin color and origin".

Well, yes, demanding that foreign illegal aliens return to their actual countries, while actual Germans are allowed to remain in Germany, is a remigration policy based on "origin." To declare this some kind of racist, Nazi-esque measure is to announce that, in the mind of the Regime, there is simply no difference whatsoever, legally, between real citizens and foreign migrants.

He's announcing that the German government can make no distinctions between Germans and foreign interlopers.

Because it is racist for a country to "discriminate" in favor of its own citizens.

Merz further claimed that if deportations took place, German society would simply collapse. Speaking directly to AfD members in the German Parliament, he went on to say: "You are part of the problem we have in Germany -- and we will resist that with everything at our disposal".

And he does mean everything, including simply banning this party that represents popular opinion and which is therefore anathema to the Davos/Soros Regime.

Merz has previously questioned the wisdom and practicality of essentially ending democracy in Germany to "save democracy," but he appears to be warming to the idea:

The ethnic cleansing line follows other remarks by Merz on Monday, who addressed the federal executive of the CDU to promise he would use government power to prevent AfD dissidents from taking power. As reported:

Germany has a considerable security state, including political police. These organisations are a legacy of the post-Second World War and Cold War political settlements, when it was thought Germany's constitution needed inbuilt protections against democracy of a magnitude practically unknown elsewhere in the Western world. Convinced that the public voting against endless open borders is an emergency justifying the use of these powers, Merz is reported to have said on Monday he would use "all the instruments" in Germany's "strong constitution" to defend the nation against "a right-wing extremist state government".

Or maybe he won't need to go all the way. Maybe he can just count on the EU to economically strangle Saxony-Anhalt for rejecting the Davos-Soros Regime.

Beege Wellborne notes the German media is discussing the possibility that the EU will apply sanctions to the region until it votes the Only Permitted Way.

It has already been standard practice in Hungary and Poland: the EU froze funding. Should a potential AfD government in Saxony-Anhalt also violate fundamental EU rights, the state faces a payment freeze -- and thus a financial shortfall.

Saxony-Anhalt will receive [Euros] 2.95 billion from the current EU budget, which covers the years 2021 to 2027. This funding will be used for projects including school renovations, comprehensive refurbishments of gymnasiums and daycare centers, and the purchase of modern medical equipment for hospitals.

Saxony-Anhalt is the German state that receives the most EU regional funding per capita. Now, the AfD could soon be governing in Magdeburg. A party that, according to Green MEP Daniel Freund, acts against the European project and the European Union -- "and then, if necessary, the European Commission would have to withhold funds."

Communism-curious authoritarian Angela Merkel says her "heart is bleeding" over AfD's victory.

Andrew Stuttaford says that Merkel is responsible for the AfD's rise.

Angela Merkel said her "heart is bleeding" after the state election victory by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) in Saxony-Anhalt.

Sad. But, according to the newspaper, "analysts have accused the former chancellor of paving the way for the AfD."

Analysts are right. The AfD was born as the "professors' party" founded by two free-market economists and others opposed to the eurozone bailouts made possible by Merkel. A preference for a more restrictive immigration policy was a secondary strand in the AfD's platform, but that changed after Merkel's narcissistic and reckless decision to throw open Germany's doors in 2015. The free-market strain can still be found here and there within the AfD, but Merkel's refusal to countenance serious dissent to her policy within the center-right created an opening of which the AfD, transforming itself into a party of the populist right, took full advantage.

And the AfD only benefited further when Merkel, infuriated by popular opposition to her folly, became one of the pioneers of online censorship. As I noted in an essay in National Review in 2018:

The mainstream media had enthusiastically echoed the chancellor's Willkommenskultur narrative of kindly Germans cheerfully greeting the migrants, but establishment unanimity was not enough for the instinctively authoritarian Merkel. Her less "welcoming" compatriots had found an audience on social media. That would not do.

Merkel thus endorsed a new censorship law, with the catchy name Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz. By doing so, she undermined her already tatty democratic credibility and reinforced the ability of the AfD to distinguish itself from the Kartellparteien ("cartel parties").

That is, they mean, what we'd call the Regime, or the corrupt Uniparty.
