Wednesday Morning Rant

Everyone Should Have One

One of the reasons for Trump's continued support among many is - as it has been for more than decade now - the fact that he is not like the Western norm. The same thing that strikes rage and terror into the establishment political class (and especially its hangers-on) is the same reason why Trump continues to do well. The "norm" is not desirable anymore, and hasn't been for some time now. The existence of Trump and his agenda also serves, day in and day out, as a larger-than-life foil. As the wider West zigs, he and his team zags.

It is, perhaps, immigration where this is most obvious. Seeing his approach as compared with the rest of the hateful and suicidal West is very much a "same planet, different worlds" - or maybe "same universe, different realities" scenario. It is hard to find a more comprehensive and total example of "Trump's way vs. everyone else's." It is not that everyone else is right, but that Trump alone has been willing to use the all-powerful word: "no." That is shameful for the rest of the world.

Any perusal of global headlines will make the opposite approaches obvious.

The State Department, May 11, 2026:

The United States did not participate in the International Migration Review Forum and will not support the May 8 "progress" declaration.

The United States has persistently objected to the United Nations' efforts to advocate and facilitate replacement immigration in the United States and across the broader West. In 2017, President Trump rejected the Global Compact on Migration. The intervening years have confirmed the wisdom of that opposition.
...
President Trump is focused on the interests of Americans, not foreigners or globalist bureaucrats. The United States will not support a process that imposes, overtly or by stealth, guidelines, standards, or commitments that constrain the American people’s sovereign, democratic right to make decisions in the best interests of our country.

Our goal is not to "manage" migration, but to foster remigration.

And in keeping with that, from PJ Media on the same date:
"The number of people receiving a decision of voluntary departure has risen dramatically since the change in presidential administration," writes non-profit Vera Institute of Justice in a report, "particularly among people who were detained. Judges appointed by the second Trump administration have granted voluntary departure at higher rates than judges with more experience - while still granting orders of removal at comparable rates."
As Ace covered last week and as reported in The Hill, it isn't just rejection of the globalists' immigration schemes and stepped up removal of illegals, it's also now denaturalization:
Federal prosecutors filed denaturalization actions in U.S. District Courts across the country this week against 12 people, alleging they lied during the naturalization process, including about previous criminal behavior.

The DOJ said these people -- ranging in age from 28 to 75 years -- concealed serious offenses while seeking legal status, including providing material support to a terrorist group, war crimes and sexual abuse of a minor.

So that's a smattering of developments from over here over the past week - but what about over there? It is, of course, the opposite. In Labour's Britain, it's still all about "accommodation," of course:

Chris Philp, the Shadow Home Secretary, urged Labour to "come clean" about where they plan to send illegal migrants, commenting: "The truth is that they are moving illegal immigrants from asylum hotels to residential housing because they do not have control of our borders."
...
His warning has already become a "nightmare" reality for Crowborough residents. All 350 male migrants live a mere 20-minute walk from the town centre and are able to freely roam without a curfew. Residents are also entitled to a £50 weekly allowance to pay for basic amenities, such as food, clothing, and toiletries.

The Home Office confirmed the Crowborough site could house as many as 540 people. They will stay in the barracks for up to three months while their asylum claims are processed.

Not removed, just moved. And subsidized. And the locals' preferences be damned. Pretty normal. Not that this problem is limited to the north:
Greek Migration Minister Thanos Plevris said this week that Athens estimates there are approximately 550,000 migrants waiting in Libya, the African hub, for the opportunity to cross to Europe.

Pelvris said that Athens is working closely with Libyan authorities as well as the European Union’s external border force Frontex to prevent migrant boats from taking off from the coastline of the Maghreb nation.

Remember the constant "caravans" from Central America during non-Trump years? This is the Afro-European version of that. Do you remember what happened to those "caravans" once Trump took over? They stopped pretty quickly. These "caravans" do not happen spontaneously. They are funded, coordinated and managed by governments, NGOs and associated gangs. If you turn off the "government" side of that - including throttling the state sponsorship of NGOs - they stop. That this is getting geared up in Libya means only that it will succeed. They don't bother if it won't. Europe is as bad as ever.

But there is perhaps no greater contrast than between the US and Australia. While the US is denaturalizaling and deporting criminals, Australia is moving mountains to ensure they get to stay:

After his permanent visa was cancelled following his 2021 conviction Al Qatrani made an application to revoke the cancellation, which was refused in February this year, but last week he successfully reviewed the decision at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal in Sydney.

ART Senior Member Mark Harrowell overturned the cancellation using Ministerial Direction 110, which has been maintained by immigration minister Tony Burke since 2024, and has resulted in dozens of serious criminals being spared deportation in recent months.
...
Mr Harrowell noted in his decision that Al Qatrani has two minor children aged 9 and 11 with his current wife - a South Korean national who he met in 2009, and an adult son with his first wife, and that he claimed he was a 'changed man from the one sentenced to the crime I was convicted of nine years ago.

We don't have a monopoly on Hawaiian Judges - or Hawaiian Ministers.

This all is - or should be - abjectly humiliating for the rest of the Western world. We have a long, long way to go until the US is cleaned up and some of the incalculable damage of the past thirty years is undone, but at least we are trying to deal with it and taking real steps to not only stop the influx but to reverse it. The rest of the West is the opposite and is still business-as-usual and full throttle on open borders, with the glorious masters in the warrens of their bureaucracies and at the United Nations leading the way as always.

Maybe the other benighted nations of the West will eventually tire of it and get some Trumps of their own.
