Border Czar Tom Homan is pushing back hard on Pope Leo XIV, accusing the pontiff of misunderstanding the human toll of illegal immigration -- and arguing that President Trump's border crackdown is saving lives on both sides of the border.

"Look, what he doesn't understand is the flip side to illegal migration," Homan told Breitbart News when asked about Pope Leo's comments on migration. "Thirty-one percent of women get raped making that journey, 4,000 aliens died making that journey under Joe Biden. [A] quarter million Americans died of fentanyl because he opened the borders. When you overwhelm the Border Patrol, all the bad things happen: Sex trafficking increases, fentanyl increases. Securing the border saves lives. And I'd be happy to sit down and explain it to him: Illegal migration is not a victimless crime. So President Trump having illegal immigration down 96 percent, he's saving thousands of lives every year."

Homan, who described himself as a practicing Catholic, said Church leadership should be aligned with law enforcement and the rule of law. "I'm a lifelong Catholic, a still-practicing Catholic," he added. "The Catholic faith is always in support of law enforcement -- always has been. [Pope Leo] should be too."

He also invited the Pope to allow unlimited immigration into Vatican City and see how that works out for them: "If we jumped the wall at the Vatican, penalties are MUCH harder than in America." Video here.

Vice President JD Vance announced Wednesday that the Trump administration is temporarily halting portions of federal Medicaid funding to Minnesota, delivering a blunt warning that the state must prove it can safeguard taxpayer dollars before the money starts flowing again.

Standing alongside Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz, Vance said the administration is preparing to move "very aggressively" against individuals and organizations accused of exploiting Medicare and Medicaid programs.

"We're announcing today that we have decided to temporarily halt certain amounts of Medicaid funding that are going to the state of Minnesota," Vance said, arguing the pause is necessary "to ensure that the state of Minnesota takes its obligation seriously to be good stewards of the American people's tax money."

Oz confirmed that roughly $259 million in Medicaid payments to the state would be deferred.

Vance emphasized that health care providers in Minnesota have already been paid and that reimbursements to doctors and hospitals are not being cut off. Instead, the administration is suspending federal payments directed to the state government itself until officials demonstrate concrete steps to root out fraud and tighten oversight.

The vice president pointed to what he described as particularly egregious abuse inside a program designed to provide after-school services to autistic children.

"A program that existed to ensure that autistic children had access to some after-school services has made a number of people rich," Vance said, alleging that fraudsters set up sham businesses and even claimed services for individuals who were not autistic in order to siphon federal funds.

One of the hooligans who allegedly pelted NYPD cops with snowballs in a rowdy free-for-all at Washington Square Park has been unmasked -- as a 27-year-old punk who was arrested for attempted robbery just weeks ago, police said.

Gusmane Coulibaly was cuffed on Thursday in connection to the Monday afternoon mayhem that sent two uniformed cops to the hospital, authorities said.

Cops didn't immediately say what he was charged with.

It wasn't Coulibaly's first run-in with the law.

He was arrested for attempted robbery in a Bronx subway station less than three weeks ago, cops and sources said.

Coulibaly was one of four suspects pictured in surveillance photos released by the NYPD a day after video of the "snow"-commotion went viral on social media.

The three others remain at large, police said.
