North Carolina Enacts New Congressional Districting Map Which Will Likely Add One More Republican to the House of Representatives

CNN's collective vagina is sandy.

Nay -- it's gritty.

The North Carolina Senate approved a new congressional map aimed at helping Republicans eke out an additional GOP seat to help shore up the party's majority in the US House after next year's midterm elections.

The vote came one day after Republican lawmakers who control North Carolina's legislature formally opened debate on the map. It targets a House district currently represented by Democratic Rep. Don Davis -- one of three Black members of Congress from the state. The new district lines aim to give Republicans the advantage for 11 out of 14 US House seats from North Carolina.

The GOP currently controls 10 seats under the map used in last year's elections.

Now for the schmoll news I know many of you are going to gripe at, forcing me to hide schmolling news in deceptively-headlined posts like a dirty secret Brian Stelter hides in his orthopedic sock drawer.

We can win the Virginia governor's race.

A new poll shows Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears trailing Democratic hopeful Abigail Spanberger by 5 points.

Polls are inaccurate, and favor Democrats by 3 points or more (often more), so this race is a jump-ball.

The 2025 Virginia governor's race is emerging as a key indicator of national political trends ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

...

In the co/efficient poll released on Friday, Earle-Sears is down 5 points, with 44 percent of the vote compared to Spanberger's 49 percent. Six percent remain undecided, the poll shows.

The survey polled 937 likely voters from October 15 to October 17 and has a 3.19 percent margin of error.

And of course last week's Trafalgar poll but the race within the margin of error:

In another poll taken last week, Earle-Sears was also behind Spanberger but within the margin of error. The poll by The Trafalgar Group showed Spanberger had 47.5 percent of the vote compared to Earle-Sears' 45.3 percent.

The Democrats are worried enough about Abigail Spanberger that they're sending their highest-ranking homosexuals. First Obama, and now Pete!

Now I don't want to say the AG's race -- between actual prosecutor Jason Miyares and lunatic partisan child-murder-fantasist Jay Jones -- is in the bag, so I'll post this without comment:

In New Jersey, where Republicans have gained a lot of voters through registration drives, Jack Ciattarelli is also supposedly five points behind lifelong cheater/congressional grifter Mikie Sherril.

But this same schmollster missed Ciattarelli's support by 5.2 points in 2021.

Eric Daugherty @EricLDaugh

🚨 JUST IN: NEW JERSEY governor poll

🔵 Mikie Sherrill: 50% (+5)
🔴 Jack Ciattarelli: 45%

Same pollster in 2021:
🔵 Murphy+8
🟡 Result: Murphy+2.8
🟥 Error: Missed Ciattarelli by 5.2

GOP should be ready to STORM the polls on Saturday...

Sometimes the question "who do you expect to win" can be a better measure of the final vote than schmolling questions about who the respondent intends to vote for. On that measure, the race is a toss-up. 43% expect the corrupt cheating grifter Democrat to win, 42% expect Ciattarelli.

Ciatterelli might be getting the endorsement of the Vaad, an organization which represents orthodox Jews in New Jersey (and also controls the Kessel Trade Routes). I've heard their numbers estimated around 100,000 voters.

Ciattarelli only lost by 92,000 in 2021. The Vaad didn't endorse him in 2021.

And he's got another big endorsement. Trump says: Back Jack!

In the national race for the House of Representatives, Democrats hold a bare +1.8% advantage in RCP's schmolling average. This means, of course, that they have no advantage, as schmollsters always over-estimate Democrat support by around 3%.

The last time the Democrats shut down the government, during Trump's first term, Trump lost support with the public.

Now he's gaining support -- very slightly.
