The third-party breakthrough already happened — under Trump

Third parties don’t win. It is perhaps the last of the old rules that still holds. As President Donald Trump put it in response to Elon Musk’s launch of the America Party, “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks. He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States.”

The Donald has a point. The last third party to break through was the Republican Party in 1854, coalescing out of abolitionist fervor. Every subsequent attempt — Greenback Party, Socialist Party, States’ Rights, Reform, Unity08, Libertarian Party, No Labels, Americans Elect, Bloomberg 2016 — has had, at best, a brief, firefly glow.

People often point to the first-past-the-post electoral method as a guarantor of two-party politics, and it is true that that system encourages the creation of two competing coalitions. Just as important though is that unique feature of U.S. democracy, the primary, which forces both parties to move with public opinion.

I don't think an Elon centered 3rd party-much as I might agree with it's platform (I don't know that I do, I'm just saying)-does anything but hand power to the Democraps. We need to purge the GOP of RINOs, not form a new party.

Christianity Must Control All Of Culture, Or It Won’t Control Any Of It

This has become an all too common pattern. Once a nominally Christian or conservative cultural product becomes sufficiently popular, its creators start to give in to the pressures of the dominant, left-wing cultural atmosphere and soon enough are completely subverted. The hit TV show The Chosen represents another recent example.

As my colleague Jordan Boyd pointed out, the hit Christian TV show came under fire in 2023 after eagle-eyed viewers spotted an LGBT pride flag on camera equipment during a behind-the-scenes video of the show’s set. The show didn’t seem bothered by the flag’s presence, and it even handwaved the whole incident, chalking it up to the imperfection of man: “We ask that audiences let the show speak for itself and focus on the message, not the messenger, because we’ll always let you down.”

The lesson from these incidents is not that Christian cultural products are incapable of breaking through into the cultural mainstream without becoming compromised. It’s that they can’t break through in isolation. The left’s stranglehold on almost every facet of modern culture — TV, movies, video games, literature, art, etc. — allows them to either smother or co-opt and subvert any ostensibly conservative effort to effect the wider culture.

This really is a problem, because it happens gradually just by being immersed in a different worldview. It's like being thrown in the ocean. You're going to get wet unless you make a specific effort – like putting on a diving suit – not to.

Judge blocks NYPD’s attempt to force dozens of unqualified officers to resign after faulty hiring standards

The NYPD is trying to force dozens of officers and recruits who failed to meet the department’s standards to resign — but the effort hit a roadblock late Thursday when a state judge blocked the move, The Post has learned.

At least 30 cops and cadets — hired between 2023 and 2024 under Inspector Terrell Anderson, who has since been transferred out of his role with the police academy — were notified of the NYPD’s attempt to purge them Thursday, according to the sources.

“They all got called down,” a police source told The Post. “They’re being told, ‘You didn’t meet the qualifications. You shouldn’t have been hired. You have 24 hours to resign or be fired.’”

Of all the absurd things leftists thing, thinking that someone is owed a job is pretty close to the top of the absurd list.

When the culture war infects the doctor

Recently, during a routine doctor’s appointment for one of my children, the physician’s assistant paused as we walked out and said, “I’m a big fan of you and your husband, Seth’s, writing.” It caught me off guard. As conservative writers, our work is often contentious, and being recognized in a clinical setting was a new and slightly disorienting experience.

I say I’ve never been recognized in a medical setting before, but the truth is, I’m not so sure. Years ago, when I was pregnant with one of my children, I used a midwife practice that initially felt warm and supportive. However, toward the end of my first trimester, the demeanor of the primary midwife in the practice abruptly shifted. Once friendly, she became distant and cold. At a group meeting toward the end of my pregnancy, attended by other women due around the same time, that same midwife made a snide comment implying that I was heartless. It felt like the final confirmation of what I had begun to suspect: she had looked me up, realized I was a conservative writer, and had started treating me accordingly.

Has anyone ever heard about a right-leaning medical professional refusing to treat libs?
