More layoff news in what already has been a depressing week. Disney is in the middle of a new wave of cuts as part of a "cost-saving initiative," sources tell Deadline. We hear about 300 or so people are affected by the layoffs that started yesterday and are continuing today and tomorrow, with a possibility to stretch beyond that.
The positions -- all based in the U.S. -- are across Disney's corporate operations, including legal, HR, finance and communications, we hear. Among the divisions that are not impacted in this round are Parks, ESPN as well as Disney Entertainment.
HR? Do tell!
Disney's woke head of Animation has been fired -- I mean, this Stunning and Brave, Stronk and Empowered woman was promoted back to her old job, which is cranking out ever-more-soulless-and-cashgrabby sequels to Frozen.
A new rumor claims that Disney and Pixar executives instructed the Inside Out 2 team to remove any possible gay interpretations from Inside Out 2 after Lightyear's box office failure.
A report from IGN's Alex Stedman, which cites multiple anonymous individuals at Disney, claims that Disney executives blamed the failure of Lightyear on its inclusion of a gay kiss. Lightyear only grossed $218.7 million according to The-Numbers. The film had an estimated production budget of $200 million.
One source told Stedman, "It is, as far as I know, still a thing, where leadership, they'll bring up Lightyear specifically and say, 'Oh, Lightyear was a financial failure because it had a queer kiss in it. That's not the reason the movie failed."
Despite this source's claim, Disney executives instructed Pixar creatives to make Inside Out 2 "less gay." Stedman writes, "Sources describe rumors that there was special care put into making the relationship between Riley and Val, a supporting character introduced in Inside Out 2, seem as platonic as possible, even requiring edits to the lighting and tone of certain scenes to remove any trace of 'romantic chemistry.'
One source told him that Pixar did "a lot of extra work to make sure that no one would potentially see them as not straight."
But that last-minute fix wasn't enough for Jennifer Lee to keep her job.
Wait, I guess that's not really all that complicated.
With Jennifer Lee firmly in place as the head of Walt Disney Animation and her plans for 50/50 female/male animator equity in place, her next goal was to include diverse voices to lead the next generation of feature animation. In 2019, Lee announced the names of four storytellers to direct four new films (Variety).
From within WDA, Lee chose Josie Trinidad (story for Zootopia and Ralph Breaks the Internet) and Marc Smith (director of story for Frozen II). Lee pulled the other two from outside. The first is Carlos Lopez Estrada, who directed Raya and the Last Dragon, and Iranian-American filmmaker Suzi Yoonessi (Unlovable and Dear Lemon Lima). Many of the veteran animators saw these hirings, particularly Estrada and Yoonessi, as WDA embracing DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion).
Disney had a long line of veteran animators investing time and energy in the hope that one day they would helm a Disney classic. Now, these scarce opportunities were given to people who were labeled diverse and never worked in animation. As uncovered in past D-Files, the "Old White Guys" were not given prominent scenes to animate in favor of inexperienced women of color. This snub began the slow and total exodus of veteran talent from Walt Disney Animation to competitor studios, including Skydance.
Alan Ng notes that there's an "untitled Disney anination" coming out Thanksgiving of this year. That movie was just revealed to be a soulless, cashgrabby sequel to Moana. Moana 2. Love the creativity.
But Moana 2 was already commissioned as a Disney Plus tv show. Disney is now scrambling to convert it into a film they can release in the Thanksgiving window.
Why all the last-minute scrambling? Ng thinks he knows why: Because Iger cancelled the movie one of Disney Animation's Four Woke Horsemen of the Apocalypse had been developing:
My sources tell me that the untitled Disney Animation was never supposed to be Moana 2 but a story spearheaded by diverse hire Suzi Yoonessi. Though Yoonessi had several successful live-action films under her belt, she may have found herself in over her head in the world of animation. It appears that Yoonessi's film was not only paused bu flat out canceled. This film was about to enter the launch sequence when Wish came out but was canceled at the last minute. This left Walt Disney Studios with only two films in theaters in 2024, Young Woman and the Sea at the beginning of the year and Mufasa at the end.
There are so many Woke Videogame Disasters that Imma have to speedrun them:
Ubisoft made a woke Assassin's Creed game. They finally set one of their historically-themed stealth actioners in Japan. (The game is about assassins that are essentially ninjas, so people have asked for a Japan-set game for years and years.)
They've delayed the game's release until next February. Ah, February -- the 12th best month to release a videogame. No thanks, Thanksgiving and Christmas! We don't need you!
A financial analyst described Ubisoft's sales collapse and its delaying of Assassin's Creed Shadows a "total meltdown" and the company's stock collapse proves that true.
Valliant Renegade reacted to the news that broke yesterday afternoon in the United States that Ubisoft was not only delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows, but that they were reducing their sales expectations for its second quarter by 30% from 500 million to 350-370 million [Euros]. On top of that the company also revised their entire year expectation to "around break-even" instead of profitability. He described it as a "total meltdown."
Valliant Renegade specifically reacted to the stock price crashing nearly 20% since the market opened this morning around 9 [Euros].
He stated, "A little over four years ago Ubisoft was trading at nearly 90 Euros. 9-0 euros. And four years and seven months later here we are nine euros. That means the company has shed 90% of its total market capitalization. And right now as this continues on, this is going to make Ubisoft worth probably less than $1 billion on the open market by the end of trading today."
In a document providing new financial targets for FY2024-25, Ubisoft drastically cut its net bookings projections for FY2024-25 from 500 million to 350-370m million [Euros]. The company explained the main reason for their net bookings being cut by up to 30% is "a reflection of decisions taken for Assassin's Creed Shadows and the softer than expected launch for Star Wars Outlaws.
[Ubiosoft CEO Yves Guillemot] then concluded his remarks, "Finally, let me address some of the polarized comments around Ubisoft lately. I want to reaffirm that we are an entertainment-first company, creating games for the broadest possible audience, and our goal is not to push any specific agenda. We remain committed to creating games for fans and players that everyone can enjoy."
Guillemot repeated this prepared remark word-for-word during the company's Trading Update Call.
However, this is an obvious lie as Ubisoft's website makes it very clear it does have a specific agenda. On the company's Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility page, a statement from Raashi Sikka, Ubisoft's Vice President of Global Diversity and Inclusion says, "For Ubisoft, putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything we do means providing an environment where employees can thrive, building open-minded communities where players can connect, and creating games that reflect the diversity of the world we live in."
Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is such a huge, woke calamity that the studio itself probably will not survive it. Its original base game was woke trash, and they've sought to build on this non-success by giving people what they've always wanted: a gender-swapped Mr. Freeze.
Well, that didn't work, and the already small player base continued to crater.
But don't worry, they're righting the ship with an exciting new idea they've never tried before: Gender-swapping Deadshot.
See, this is Deadshot, not Mr. Freeze.
Different!
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is pursuing the Modern Audience by allowing people, in its character customization menus, to give characters masectomy scars so that "trans people can feel seen and validated."
You may think: Well, if this is all chosen by the player, what's the harm? Give everybody what they want?
It has been reported before that, supposedly, the command to make all female video game characters sexually ambiguous and masculine isn't just about feminists demanding that the "male gaze" always be disappointed, so that ugly women aren't forced to look at pretty women (even if fake videogame women) and feel emotionally triggered. The imperative also comes from trans activists, who want to see "women that look like themselves," that is to say: Men.
Reportedly, the trans-encouraging, real-women's-bodies-allergic game's sales are "piss poor."
YouTuber Doctor Disaster shared, "I have an acquaintance in the retail world, someone who runs nine stores that sells video games. And I am hearing that these ratios that we're seeing in damn near every video released for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, these ratios are correlating with piss poor pre-sales data. People are not connecting with The Veilguard because Dragon Age games are supposed to be dark and gritty and this just looks completely soft."
A couple of years ago, there was one videogame universally praised for not having any wokeness in it, and just delivering a solid, immersive game that players wanted. That game was the Third Person Samurai game Ghosts of Tsushima.
Layden shared his comments while reacting to YouTuber Endymion's initial reaction to the game's trailer. He wrote, "Ghost of Tsushima sequel stars a Japanese woman samurai warrior because of course it does. They can't help themselves until every franchise that was built on masculinity is replaced by women."
He added, "Ghost of Yotei is (hopefully) a small spin off game, but if this is the true sequel & this is the new main character over Jin Sakai, f**k that. So sick of the forced girlboss narrative man."
YouTuber Mightykeef reacted to this by attacking Endymion and writing, "Man what an absolute loser."
Layden responded to this post writing, "1 It's a game. An entertainment. A story a team of creators believes in. They want to make this."
He added, "2 it's a game. If you don't like it, don't buy it. In fact, why not make the game you want yourself?"
Sucker Punch, a subsidiary of PlayStation Studios, announced their next title Ghost of Yōtei, a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, and revealed that the game's main character, Atsu, will be voiced by radical activist Erika Ishii.
Sucker Punch shared on X, "We are thrilled that Atsu is played by the amazing Erika Ishii!"
Ishii is an radical activist, who claims in her X bio that she uses "all pronouns."
Furthermore, Ishii is activist that supports body mutilation. In June she encouraged her followers on X to support ForTheGworls that targets black individuals to encourage them to butcher themselves.
She wrote on X, "Non-Black folks looking to observe Juneteenth: Black nonprofits often receive aid in boom-or-bust cycles. This year, consider making a monthly pledge. Whether you donate, volunteer, or commit to learning please join me in my quest to be intentional & sustainable! I'm supporting: ForTheGworls a Black trans collective that helps pay for rent & gender affirming surgery in the Black LGBTQ community."
Ishii previously promoted the organization in 2023 as well, "Today, please consider supporting ForTheGworls, a Black trans-led nonprofit. Our Black trans siblings are especially vulnerable now, and I donated in honor of Juneteenth2023 & Pride2023. But please join me in pledging to do our best to support Black justice year round!"
In February 2023, ahead of the Hogwarts Legacy release, Ishii appeared to support the failed boycott of the game due to J.K. Rowling's outspoken stance on transgender activists. Ishii wrote, "I used to love Harry Potter. Went to every midnight release, cosplayed, was even in an HP themed improv group. Now I'm happy to instead support & be part of fantasy narratives where ALL are welcome. Trans community, we deserve our own better magic. I will always fight for that."
She included a video of her stating, "F**k Terfs."
In a subsequent post, Ishii added, "Muting, but wanted to reiterate: trans rights are human rights. I ask that instead of replying to negative comments to turn that effort towards positive action: a donation, sharing/supporting trans creators & trans joy, or checking in with your trans friends & their happiness!"
Not only does Ishii support body mutilation and transgender ideology, but she also claims that the police are "white supremacist." Back in 2021, she wrote, "We will not let these terrorists shake our resolve. 2020 showed us that we WILL rise up and make our voices heard. Despite voter suppression, facing down a white supremacist police force, risking health & safety, we hit the polls & streets to say NO MORE. They can't stop us."
...
On top of hiring Ishii, Sucker Punch hired former Insomniac Games Community Manager and Sweet Baby Inc. defender Thomas Hart to be the company's Community Manager beginning in April 2024. Hart announced he joined Sucker Punch writing on X, "Incredibly excited to announce that today is my first day at Sucker Punch as a Community Manager!"
He defended Sweet Baby Inc. just a month prior, "This whole Sweet Baby controversy is mind numbingly dumb. Most people have no idea how games are made or what a consultant does. Many don't even care to listen when someone tries to explain it to them. They would much rather have an other to demonize."
A designer says that the game's development was ruined by a "toxic positivity:" You simply were not allowed to point out the game's flaws, or question why we need even more obese black half-head-shaved lesbians as superheroes. Only cultish praise was permitted.
Next, he shared that there was a "toxic positivity vibe." He stated, "You weren't allowed to say anything internally about this game. About how something is wrong with it. Character designs are not right. They really, truly believed. This was Herman Hulst's baby apparently. And he internally was himself a massive champion of the game."
Sweet Baby Inc. is a company of "diversity consultants" who are hired by videogame companies so that SJWs do not attack and boycott them. It's a racial/gay/trans shakedown, in other words.
A Sweet Baby Inc. employee named Camerin Wild, who claims to be non-binary, admitted that his goal is "burning the games industry to the ground."
In a presentation titled "How to Get Away With Murder Subverting Genre Expectations" at The Game Developers of Color Expo discovered by YouTuber Kirsche, Wild introduces himself saying he is a "narrative designer and sensitivity reader with a company called Sweet Baby Inc."
Wild, who according to Moby Games worked on Tales of Kenzera: Zau, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Alan Wake II, The Crew: Motorfest, Kingdom EIghties, and God of War: Ragnarök, then declared "the stories we tell each other are way more than entertainment. They are how we create debate and preserve our collective values and beliefs. And we can and should make better more expansive, more representational content."
Then in a slide titled, "Cool, so why am I here?" One of the bullet points states, "Burning the games industry to the ground."
And you're doing a fantastic job of it.
In the next slide titled "So why am I still here?" One of the bullet points states, "To prove that space where whiteness doesn't have to live-is where some of the best stories are told."
Is there anything worth playing? Well, despite Games Workshop itself being increasingly woke, the licensed game Space Marine 2 is being hailed as throwback to when games were just fun and exciting.
And non-woke. The game is being attacked by leftists because someone at the company making the game -- possibly the CEO -- made the triggering statement that videogame designers should not be in the business of imposing their moral agenda on a captive audience, which caused all the mentally-ill internet addicts to begin showing their mental illnesses on the internet.
Hey man. CEO of Saber here. I love your videos. When we signed the deal to make Space Marine 2, all I wanted was a throwback game. We had the chance to work on something which by its nature was "old school". I can't even comprehend many of the current games that we play these days.
They are too complex and too much of an investment. We worked on Halo back in the day, and that game could be distilled down to the simplest of shooting loops, but it was entirely addicting. That is what we wanted to recapture. I hope that games like Space Marine 2 and Wukong are the start of a reversion to a time when games were simply about fun and immersion.
Oh my -- how offensive!
Below, some more about Disney.
The Acolyte was Disney's poorest-viewed and worst-rated Star Wars fan fiction effort. Its second season has been cancelled, or, rather, it hasn't been picked up for a second season. The Terminally Online Retards who spend every single day demanding that all IPs add gayness everywhere and race-swap all characters are melting down, because, at last, their decade of Marxist lies about "the modern audience" showing up to embrace these woke abortions have been rubbished.
The showrunner and non-binary diverse star of this show let everyone know right off the bat who this show was made for, when they eagerly agreed it was "the gayest Star Wars content ever." It was about, infamously, a coven of lesbian witches.
Now comes Disney's Agatha All Along, which is about, stop me if you heard this one before, a coven of lesbian witches (and one twink gay male).
But this is different from The Acolyte's lesbian space witches. These lesbian witches are earth-bound. Totally different concept!
And because it worked out so well for The Acolyte, a gay-agenda propagandist demands that each cast member affirm that it is "the gayest Marvel content ever," and each is glad to do so:
And how is it doing? As usual, the shill media is pushing this show and claiming it's a success, because everyone wants 24/7 all-gay programming. Obviously.
Variety spins, weakly, that it's "on par" with The Acolyte -- a show that was an undeniable bomb.
But it gets worse -- it's not "on par" with The Acolyte.
Its ratings are actually 40% less than what The Acolyte got in its first week, and The Acolyte was cancelled, despite the caterwauling from the Twitter weirdoes.
