Gun Thread: Less Than Robust Content Edition!

Howdy, Y'all! Welcome to the wondrously fabulous Gun Thread! As always, I want to thank all of our regulars for being here week in and week out, and also offer a bigly Gun Thread welcome to any newcomers who may be joining us tonight. Howdy and thank you for stopping by! I hope you find our wacky conversation on the subject of guns 'n shooting both enjoyable and informative. You are always welcome to lurk in the shadows of shame, but I'd like to invite you to jump into the conversation, say howdy, and tell us what kind of shooting you like to do!

Holy Shitballs! How in the ever-loving Hell did it get to be the end of August? You may recall last week we had a mini-lesson on how the calendar works, where first we have August and then we have September, so this is the final August Gun Thread and next week we have a September Gun Thread!! I am writing this earlier than usual (on Wednesday rather than Saturday) because I am headed to the farm-o in the morning for a few days. I have a bunch of chores to do there and should hopefully be home by the time this goes up on Sunday. Thanks for understanding this being a content-lite edition, as I need to get back to my roots on the land of the Organic Tree Farm.

Sunday Update - Weasel Down! Weasel Down!!
I'm back a little earlier than expected because I managed to mess up my ankle. Organic Tree Farming is not for the faint of heart nor the faint of ankle! I stepped on a rock and my ankle rolled in a way it was clearly not designed to do. Anyhoo, I drove home and went to an urgent care place for an x-ray and I'll be visiting my ankle guy tomorrow for an MRI. In the meantime, it's a delightful shade of black and blue and purple, and I'm keeping it elevated, using ice and taking drugs. Think I'll go operate some heavy machinery!

Actually I will likely just be snoozing, so please forgive me if I am not in the comments much tonight. Appreciate it!

Q: Weasel, since you're lame-o, do we get a week off from fundamentals?
A: No.

What is your favorite fundamentals drill? Your least favorite? Several of you are reporting great results after focusing on fundamentals at the range. Not getting the results you want? Slow down and figure out what's going on. Doing the wrong thing harder never helps the situation. Stop what you are doing and focus!

Recently I mentioned buying the 9mm 6+1 round Kimber Micro 9 Raptor as a carry gun option. It was really an impuse buy, because I already frequently carry a 6+1 round Sig P238 in .380ACP. Obviously I cannot be held responsible for my thoughts and actions, but I suppose I must've had the random thought that 9mm is better than .380ACP because slightly bigger is always better, right? I really like the little Sig because it's highly concealable and I can generally hit what I am aiming at with it, but the Kimber was all new and shiny. Shiny = Good, and Good = Buy, right?

Kimber Update!! I really like this little gun! I had a chance this weekend to put it through its paces and it ran flawlessly with plain old 115 gr ball ammo. The ergonomics are excellent, the sight picture is very easy to acquire and there is negligible recoil. So far I am really very impressed!

So did my vague and fleeting thought have any merit? How does the .380 stack up against 9mm?

So what do all y'all think? .380 or 9mm, or both?

Our pal and my bestest buddy WBG joined me at the farm this weekend and brought with him a new moving target we hope to incorporate into the Move & Shoot portion of the TXMoMe festivities this year. Here is a quick look at how it works.

So what do you think? I can tell you it is much more challenging than it looks! The best I was able to manage was 3 of 5 rounds in our testing.
