Kamala Harris Gives Public Statement... from White House

Still no word from the man who supposedly "withdrew" from the race.

But Kamala's making herself at home in the White House.

Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday applauded President Joe Biden and his accomplishments in the White House in her first public remarks since he endorsed her for president.

Harris said Biden's "legacy of accomplishment over the past three years is unmatched in modern history."

"In one term, he has already surpassed the legacy of most presidents who have served two terms in office," Harris said on the South Lawn of the White House at an event celebrating NCAA athletes who won championships in the 2023-24 season.

The vice president said that she has witnessed the president's "honesty" and "integrity" and "commitment to faith and his family" as well as "his big heart and his deep love of our country."

"I am a firsthand witness that every day our President Joe Biden fights for the American people and we are deeply, deeply grateful for his service to our nation," she said.

Harris said that Biden wanted to attend the event, which he has hosted in past years, and is "feeling much better" and "recovering fast" from his Covid diagnosis last week.

"He looks forward to getting back on the road," she said about Biden, who has been isolating at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Harris said in a statement Sunday that she's honored to have earned Biden's endorsement and said her "intention is to earn and win this nomination."

Scores of Democrats, including some high-profile governors and lawmakers, have since endorsed Harris for the presidential nomination. But other congressional leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have not yet explicitly expressed support for her.

Pelosi is doing what Hot Air calls a "two-step" to avoid endorsing Kamala Harris while pretending to be supportive.

And she's one of the people pushing this obvious con on Kamala Harris that it would benefit her to have an open convention, with delegates free to vote for people other than Kamala Harris.

Pelosi is trying to get Kamala Harris to agree to an open convention which would have the purpose and result of nominating anyone other than Kamala Harris.

In a meeting with fellow California Democrats last week, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi stressed the need for an open process to choose the party's next nominee if President Joe Biden steps aside, in an effort to avoid the appearance of a Kamala Harris coronation.

Another Democrat was trying to sell Kamala Harris on the idea that an open convention would bring excitement and drama to the convention, which would make Harris an even stronger candidate when nominated.

Left unsaid, obviously: But we intend to nominate someone else so that that person can benefit from this excitement and drama, and have one easy win under his belt before November -- "I beat Kamala Harris -- the Final Boss of Political Power-Players!"

The discussion in that meeting of the California delegation, which includes 40 members, took place in the Capitol on July 10, at least partly focused on the complicated next steps for the Democratic Party if Biden left the ticket. And they specifically talked about the potential political downsides of party elites quickly crowning the vice president as the next nominee, according to four people familiar with the discussion, granted anonymity to discuss private conversations.

Pelosi was one of several California Democrats who stressed that an uncompetitive process would turn off voters, according to those four people.

The concern wasn't about Harris' strengths as a candidate -- and in fact, several people made clear Harris needed to be the party's next pick -- but instead centered on worries that party bosses were choosing the president, rather than the party's base.

Update: Pelosi has now "endorsed" Kamala.

BREAKING: Nancy Pelosi has endorsed Vice Pres. Harris for president.

In a statement, Pelosi wrote, "Make no mistake: Kamala Harris as a woman in politics is brilliantly astute -- and I have full confidence that she will lead us to victory in November."

This is congruent with my belief that Nancy Pelosi will continue "supporting" Kamala while also supporting an open convention -- in order to con Kamala Harris out of the nomination.

Joe Biden has been the worst President in my lifetime and Kamala Harris has been right there with him every step of the way. Over the last four years she co-signed Biden's open border and green scam policies that drove up the cost of housing and groceries. She owns all of these failures, and she lied for nearly four years about Biden's mental capacity--saddling the nation with a president who can't do the job.
