When one of our friend's daughters was very young, I was holding her hand as we walked down the alley. At one point, a storm drain crossed the alley, and she stopped short. “Come on sweetie” I said. She looked down through the grate, and then up at me like I was the dumbest thing on the planet. “I fall” she said. Cute moment, and “I fall” has been part of my family's vocabulary since.
