The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“I have frozen my penis. For real. Damn, I had to lie in there [the athletes’ tent] for 10 minutes to warm it up. It hurts so damn much. It’s terrible.” Swedish cross-country skier Calle Halfvarsson

Quote II

“Ultimately, I don’t believe that kids should work. “I think kids should play and go to school.” Actress Natalie Portman

Quote III

“Conservatives are often accused of launching a culture war or focusing or fixating on cultural issues. But here is a perfect example of how that’s not what’s happening,” Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI)

Quote IV

“I think there’s more donors just fully committed to their candidate right now, saying I am all in, and once the nominee is set, I’ll be there. That’s what I hear more than anything. And they’re really solidly in the camps of their candidate, which is normal.” Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel

It wasn't that long ago when The Fabulous and I had to do laundry at the laundromat. What pissed me off when the place was busy and people left the building with their laundry being washed and/or dried. I have no sympathy for the "woman" who felt violated.

Woman Was “So Uncomfortable” After Finding Out a Stranger Folded Her Clothes
A woman said she felt violated and uncomfortable after someone took her clothes out of a dryer in her apartment building and folded them.

I thought you did the background check!

Convicted prostitute, current escort removed from Godley ISD groups, including council overseeing Sex-Ed

GODLEY, Texas - A woman tasked with helping decide sexual education curriculum in Godley ISD has been removed from multiple positions within the district because she's a convicted prostitute.

A FOX 4 investigation also found she is advertising herself online as an escort.

The discovery raises concerns about background checks in the district and across the state.

Just the article I needed to see before our upcoming trip. Wonderful! The ONT Is Always Looking Out For YouTM

How to find hidden cameras in your Airbnb – or anywhere

Here’s something you may not know about Airbnb: hosts are allowed to film their guests.

That’s correct. If you stay in an Airbnb you could be on camera – but if you are, you should know about it.

In its rules, the company is okay with ‘disclosed devices monitoring only public spaces and common spaces’ – that could include living rooms, hallways and kitchens.

All I have to say is, "Nothing to see here. Move along. Unless you like pudgy old white guys."

Well this story throws a wrench into the buy eating desires of the WEF and other Muckity-Mucks. Honeybees Suffer Unnecessarily in Human-Made Hives, Study Finds

Honeybees in man-made hives may have been suffering the cold unnecessarily for over a century because commercial hive designs are based on erroneous science, my new research shows.

For 119 years, a belief that the way honeybees cluster together gives them a kind of evolutionary insulation has been fundamental for beekeeping practice, hive design and honeybee study.

Residents of rural areas aren't happy with you here either. Go away Damn Yankees city slickers.

Americans ditched big cities during the pandemic. Now many are regretting it.

Susan, a 30-something artist, lived in New York City when the pandemic struck. Eager to flee the claustrophobia of a too-small apartment, she and her husband decamped upstate to stay with friends in an up-and-coming town in the Catskills (population: 1,000) where they could hike local trails and fish for trout.

Susan, who asked that her real name not be used to avoid social repercussions, had lived in New York City for over a decade, but her husband had grown tired of the hustle and bustle of the city. The pair had talked about moving to a smaller town someday — the pandemic just shortened their timeline. Thanks to the influx of city folk desperate for personal space, rents in trendy upstate communities had become exorbitant overnight, so it made more financial sense to simply buy.

The couple put in an offer on a home near their friends in April 2020 and moved in by summer's end. But once they had settled in, the reality of the situation hit Susan. Cut off from her social and creative communities, she felt unmoored and alienated. Maybe she wasn't the sort of person who enjoyed trout fishing. Maybe the house in the country wasn't right for her, after all — or at least, not yet.

"I liked the idea in theory, but I wasn't ready for it," Susan told me.

There was an incident. That means we have tonight's Genius Award Winner.

A passenger on a Southwest Airlines flight was arrested on Sunday night in New Orleans after allegedly escaping the plane through the emergency hatch and running away on the tarmac at the Louis Armstrong Airport.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office (JPSO), who arrested the man, the Southwest Airlines plane was still parked at the terminal and had not yet initiated the run up for take-off when the passenger made their dangerous escape.
