First-World Problems...

I'm having a tough time with even a FirstWorldProblem^TM. We have had several days of absolutely spectacular late-summer weather, I touched up some trim in the kitchen without spilling a gallon of paint, Amazon managed to deliver the batteries for one of the smoke detectors within several hours of ordering so I didn't have to listen to the alarm panel nag me to fix it, and I made a kick-ass brisket yesterday (more anon).

Wait! The lavender plant in the front yard isn't growing as much as I wanted. The internet assured me that if I pinched off the flowers, the vegetative growth would overwhelm the neighborhood in a matter of a few months.

The internet is apparently NOT all-knowing.
