Covid Makes Smart People Stupid, And Also Joe Biden

Kent Sepkowicz, supposedly an infectious disease expert, got sick. I know, horrors, right?

He had a covid rapid antigen test at home. That test showed that he was negative for covid.

This infectious disease expert decided that that test wasn't enough. Covid had mutated since that test was developed.

He had to know whether he had covid or not. He didn't want to just self-isolate and monitor his symptoms. No, he needed to attack the covid mosquito with a Science Sledgehammer.

So here's what this Rare and Elevated Genius did:

He then trudged to not one but two different drug stores to pick up newer covid tests, exposing all the customers and workers at those drug stores to whatever bug he had.

Because Science.

Via David Strom at Hot Air, the hypochondraical maniac Kent Sepkowicz tells his story of obsessively tracking down covid tests to serially test for it, over a course of days, exposing innocent bystanders to whatever illness he was in fact carrying.

The below isn't a parody of Kent's actions -- it's Kent's actual account of what he did.

This though was just the start. Remember? One negative test on the first day of symptoms, especially with the rapid antigen test, is not determinative. I went through the house looking for masks (found a few) and N95s (found just one) and looked for any test kits that might be hidden away, stacked somewhere in a moment of last year's supreme epidemiologic overconfidence. I found none.

So, to prepare for the days ahead, I headed out to the closest drugstore -- where I found that tests were sold out. I walked (very) slowly to another one several blocks away. The second drugstore had only a single remaining test on offer from the now picked-over shelves, which I bought with a credit card, not wanting to give over contaminated and infectious and perhaps lethal paper currency to the unwitting cashier.

But you stood within a couple of feet of him wearing an ineffective N95 mask though, right?

But you're An Hero for using a credit card.

BTW don't most drug stores have self-checkout lines now?

The entire "what if" scenario appeared in full, the choreography of living with a pandemic with all the tangled concerns: In addition to the mechanics of diagnosis, I had to sort through notifying but not alarming people; tiptoeing around my house to keep a distance from my wife; trying to anticipate what might need to be canceled in the days ahead, should I be positive on the next morning's test; and feeling draggy but uncertain why. In other words, though stale and unwelcomed, I was forced to return to the deliberate, sober, adult world of complicated decisions that are their own silent reward.

He's congratulating himself for being an obsessive-compulsive wreck of a "man."

All because he... caught a cold.

But highly educated neurotics aren't the only people made stupid by covid.

Covid also makes deeply stupid people deeply stupider. Take Joe Biden for example-- he was just exposed to covid by his Retard Whore wife, who has covid.

So what does he do? He hangs a medal around the neck -- coming within nuzzling, sniffing distance of the man's mouth -- of a 81-year-old veteran hero.

Note that 81-year-olds are in fact put in peril by an exposure to covid.

Biden wants to scare the shit out of Americans to comply with his election-year covid alarmism, but can't be assed to reschedule a routine awards presentation for an 81-year-old man who might even be as decrepit and frail as he is.

Just to stick it to sane Americans further, he didn't bother wearing a mask while coming within inches of the man's mouth.

I know masks don't do anything -- and so does Biden, apparently.

But he'll mandate them for Americans on public transportation and for children in schools anyway.

Just to humiliate you. Just to let you know who makes the rules, and who suffers the rules.

Shortly before the event, KJP said during a press conference that Joe would be wearing a mask anyway while indoors or near other people unless he was speaking, eating, or drinking. And he did show up to Taylor's ceremony wearing a mask. But he took it off while giving some opening remarks and left it off even when placing the medal around the 81-year-old hero's neck, leaning only inches away from his face.

The New York Post:

President Biden remained maskless Tuesday in front of an 81-year-old vet while awarding him the Medal of Honor -- flouting COVID-19 rules that the White House had just said Biden would follow.

Biden, 80 -- whose wife Jill tested positive for the deadly virus Monday -- removed his black KN-95-style mask during a prayer at the ceremony for retired Army Capt. Larry Taylor in the White House East Room, ahead of the president's remarks from a lectern recounting the elderly honoree's heroism in the Vietnam War...

After giving his speech, Biden failed to put the mask back on as he approached Taylor and stood roughly 6 inches from him for about four minutes as the citation for Taylor's award was read aloud.

This was the event I mentioned yesterday, where Biden couldn't be bothered to stick around for the whole ceremony and pulled an Irish Goodbye midway through.

J.J. Sefton covered the reaction from veterans about this massive show of disrespect this morning.

Biden, 80, abruptly left the ceremony after fastening the nation's highest military decoration around the neck of retired Army Capt. Larry Taylor, 81, before the closing benediction was read by Chaplain Brig. Gen. William Green Jr.

Military veterans slammed Biden afterward, arguing that the commander-in-chief showed a startling lack of respect.

"Pardon my French...But what a f--ing idiot. The continuous lack of respect Biden has for anyone is appalling. Hawaii, Service members, active shooter victims, the list goes on," former Navy SEAL and podcast host Shawn Ryan tweeted after the president's hasty exit.

"At least he didn't check his watch this time," Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas), an Army veteran, snarked on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Don't worry, though: Biden was possibly not spitting early to get a head start on his Daily Vacation.

He might just have been a confused, demented old man who wasn't sure where he was supposed to go:

Some questioned whether Biden's sudden departure was pre-planned or another case of the doddering leader being unsure of where to go after giving public remarks.

"Do you think this was done on purpose or just is it more senile moments? I think the guy is so self-absorbed he makes blunders like this. God this man is a massive embarrassment to our nation," Gun Owners of America state director for Indiana Tim Harmsen mused in a tweet.

Biden doesn't bother wearing a mask despite being exposed to covid when getting up close and personal with an 81-year-old man.

But NBC "News" breathlessly reports that a fresh covid panic has been scheduled by The Regime and your participation is required.

Hospitalizations are rising. Deaths have ticked up. Wastewater samples are picking up the virus, as are labs across the country.

"Every single one of those things is showing us that we have increased rates of Covid transmission in our communities," said Jodie Guest, a professor of epidemiology at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta. ...

Hospitalizations, for example, are "a very good indicator of severity of Covid disease," Guest said.

Are hospitalizations really "a very good indicator of severity of covid disease"?

Ed Morrissey answers:

No, they most certainly are not. And in fact, this correlative measure hasn't functioned as even a somewhat relevant proxy for severity since the Delta variant.

Why? Because the CDC still counts hospitalizations and deaths as COVID related even when it plays no causative role in the event. The data is still entirely correlative; hospitals tested for COVID on all admissions, and any positive result was reported to the CDC as a COVID hospitalization, and while they're no longer testing every admission, the data they do produce is still correlative, which we'll get to momentarily. The same is true for reported deaths. Most other Western nations did and still do the same thing (Norway is among the exceptions), which makes them consistently useless in terms of public policy.

But Biden is failing, badly, and covid panic worked for him in 2020 (including suspending all rational rules about vote integrity), so Here We Go Again.
