The Morning Report — 7/20/23

nesselbloodymary.jpg

Good morning, kids. One of the 6 states hit hardest by the magical overflowing toilet in Atlanta on Election Night 2020 was Michigan. For me, the image that sticks most in my mind from that nightmare, and is probably most emblematic of our "fundamental transformation" into a banana republic was when the GOP election observers were forcibly removed from a ballot counting/sorting center in or near Detroit (with the police present if not actually participating in the ejection) with the windows and doors covered over until the next day.

As has been well documented, immediately prior to those events, Donald Trump was about to take the south, and was on the verge of sweeping through the upper midwest and taking Michigan (and carrying Senate candidate John James with him on his coattails). The other image from that night, taken from a security camera, was a tractor trailer being backed into the ballot counting center. And the rest as they say is history.

And one of the more infamous quotes is attributed to one of history's most infamous personalities, Joseph Stalin:

It’s not who votes that counts. It’s who counts the votes.

In Michigan, two of the people who have the most to say about vote-counting are the governor and the attorney general. At the time it was Gretchen "Wretched" Whitmer and Dana Nessel. They're still there. And by all indications they are champing at the bit to deliver Michigan on a platter to the Democrat nominee.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel filed felony charges against 16 Michigan Republicans who allegedly tried to overturn the state’s 2020 election in favor of President Donald Trump.

Each defendant faces the following charges:

  • One count of Conspiracy to Commit Forgery, a 14-year felony,
  • Two counts of Forgery, a 14-year felony,
  • One count of Conspiracy to Commit Uttering and Publishing, a 14-year felony,
  • One count of Uttering and Publishing, a 14-year felony,
  • One count of Conspiracy to Commit Election Law Forgery, a 5-year felony, and,
  • Two counts of Election Law Forgery, a 5-year felony.

Nessel claimed the 16 Republicans tried to “interfere in the 2020 election to reject the will of the voters. Nessel’s office detailed the Republicans’ alleged plot:

These defendants are alleged to have met covertly in the basement of the Michigan Republican Party headquarters on December 14th, and signed their names to multiple certificates stating they were the “duly elected and qualified electors for President and Vice President of the United States of America for the State of Michigan.” These false documents were then transmitted to the United States Senate and National Archives in a coordinated effort to award the state’s electoral votes to the candidate of their choosing, in place of the candidates actually elected by the people of Michigan.

  • Yes there are laws that demand electors do not go "faithless" and vote against who they are required to cast their ballots for in the Electoral College. Does that mean that in the wake of a stolen election or at a bare minimum, a justifiably disputed election given the outrageous criminal circumstances surrounding the ballots and their counting, the idea that Biden was "duly elected" is laughable in the extreme. It also means that given the extraordinary circumstances, all bets would and should be truly off.

Dana Nessel is a filthy criminal apparatchik wearing the moldering skin-suit of law and order, parading around and demanding respect. Three years later, this move serves three purposes: destroy decent people who are her political enemies and warn anyone else who dares defy her and . . . lay the groundwork to steal the 2024 election for the Democrat nominee.

Meanwhile, in another area inundated by the Fulton County Flood, Arizona, they told Nessel "hold my Bud Light!"

An investigation launched by Arizona’s Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes is seeking another round of indictments against so-called “fake electors” in Arizona, or rather, people who believed former president Donald Trump won the state in 2020. . . These so-called “fake electors” include current state representative Jake Hoffman, former state representative Anthony Kern, US Senate candidate Jim Lamon, the chairman of the Arizona GOP Dr. Kelli Ward, and Tyler Bowyer, CEO at the Arizona-based Turning Point USA.

Some of the potential charges the electors may face include forgery, tampering with a public record, and impersonating a public servant. These are not dissimilar to the charges brought against the 16 Michigan electors on Wednesday, which included forgery, conspiracy to commit forgery, and election law forgery.

So, charges like "election law forgery" and "uttering and publishing" – wait, what?! – among other things. Let us yet again set the Wayback Machine for November of 2016:

The corporate media hailed Nessel’s allegations as a “righteous prosecution” and “compelling.” History, however, shows the charges are nothing more than a political ploy to advance the left’s war on anyone who questions election results or seeks solutions to preserve election integrity.

In fact, attacks on the Trump electors in Michigan, a state where election fraud was reported in both 2020 and 2022, come from the same party and its institutional allies that formally objected to every GOP presidential certification this century and shamelessly attempted to turn electors against their political enemy Trump in 2016. . .

. . . As soon as it was clear that Donald Trump, despite the deep state’s best efforts to hoax him out of the running, would become the 45th president of the United States, Democrats and their allies scrambled to influence electors to reject Americans’ wishes.

Corporate media quickly rose to the top as the loudest voice calling for electoral disobedience. Articles demanding state electors “prevent an irresponsible demagogue from taking office” and overrule Americans to install Hillary Clinton as president popped up in the pages of The Atlantic, The Washington Post, the Daily Beast, Vox, and Time.

The New York Times even published an article from a Texas-based Republican elector explaining “Why I Will Not Cast My Electoral Vote for Donald Trump.”

“The Electoral College is essentially an undemocratic system that’s been jury-rigged to make it somewhat more democratic,” another Vox article asserted to reassure any skeptics. . .

. . . Petitions calling on electors to “Make Hillary Clinton President” made their rounds on the internet. These were promoted by celebrities such as singer Pink and their sentiments echoed by movie star Mark Ruffalo. Video ads of celebrities pleading and pressuring electors to “prevent an unfit candidate from becoming president” by voting against Trump also circulated. . .

"Uttering and publishing" for thee but not for me? Continuing . . .

. . . In her charges, Nessel repeatedly painted the Michigan defendants as “false elector” co-conspirators who participated in a “desperate effort” to “interfere with and overturn our free and fair election process, and along with it, the will of millions of Michigan voters.” Legally, however, there’s no such thing as “false electors.”

“There were contingent Republican electors named consistent with legal precedent to preserve the still ongoing legal challenges to the validity of Georgia’s certified vote,” my colleague Margot Cleveland explained in May when corporate media tried to smear Republican electors in the Peach State.

A similar elector swap to those in Michigan and Georgia happened in Hawaii in 1960. As Cleveland pointed out, it received praise instead of scrutiny because Democrats and their preferred candidate came out on top. . .

. . . The stark difference between how Democrats and Republicans are treated on the elector issue merely confirms Americans’ worst fears about the nation’s two-tiered system of justice.

More Democrats denied that former President Donald Trump won the 2016 election than the people who claimed President Joe Biden wasn’t legitimately elected in 2020 — but it’s Republicans who face jail time for expressing concern.

If you’re a loyal leftist partisan harping on voting machines and Russian “hacking,” objecting to every GOP victory, and demanding electors vote against the will of the people, you’re a hero and protector of democracy. If you do the same to the benefit of a Republican candidate, you’ve fomented a “coup attempt” and betrayed the soul of the nation.

Bingo. The people that are now being railroaded by Nessel and whoever is the filthy shitwhore with a JD posing as an attorney general in Arionza are patriots, not necessarily for doing anything heroic but for merely attempting to do their duty in halting the murder of the nation. I guess that is an heroic thing to do considering the bulk of the GOP state legislators in each of those states stared at their navels and picked nits from each other rather than their duty in refusing to certify their electors in the first place. Yeah, I get it, the BLM-tifa thugs would've or might've burned their houses down. But the chips were down and they did nothing. And don't get me started on SCOTUS and Roberts.

So what is to be expected this time around in 2024? If you said the same damn thing that gave us 2020, you win a cookie.

Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, while brave citizens face the gulag, the hearings about the Biden Crime Family and Pedophile Ring continued. Probably the highlight of the whole thing was a potential huge self-own by execrable NY Democrat asshole Dan Goldman. Per legal eagle Jonathan Turley:

One of the most basic lessons that we teach law students is that you should “never ask a question you don’t know the answer to.”

The peril of the poorly crafted question was on display in Wednesday’s hearing with two whistleblowers on political interference in the Hunter Biden investigation.

Most Democrats avoided any questions on the substance of the allegations, focusing instead on everything from systemic racism to the use of the term “two-tiered system of justice” and, of course, Donald Trump.

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) often goes where wiser members fear to tread.
On this occasion, Goldman may have delivered one of the most damaging moments for the Democrats.

In the course of just a few minutes, the junior New York congressman seemed to demolish the defense of President Biden.

Goldman was trying to get the witnesses to say that there is no evidence that President Biden was personally involved in the alleged felonies of his son.
He raised the shocking WhatsApp message that Hunter had allegedly sent to a Chinese official with foreign intelligence contacts.

In the message, Hunter wrote: “I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.”

Most Democrats have avoided the message, which is incredibly damaging and seems to contradict the President’s long denial of any knowledge or involvement in his son’s dealings.

Goldman pressed veteran IRS investigator Gary Shapley about his suggestion that Joe Biden discussed the foreign dealing with his son.

Shapley eagerly said that he would be happy to explain but Goldman cut him off and says that he did not have time for such explanations.

At this point, most lawyers would have reversed engines out of troubled waters, but Goldman plowed full speed ahead.

He said that the references to Joe sitting next to his son do not mean that they actually discussed his business.

Goldman then went even further and raised a “lunch where Joe Biden came to say hello at the Four Seasons hotel to a lunch that he was having with CEFC executives.”

He then reads from the record in how Biden associate Rob Walker described the origins of the meeting with the Chinese officials to get his dad to stop by: “Hunter told his Dad that ‘I may be trying to start a company or try to do something with these guys.’ “

Goldman then pounced and said slyly “Now let me ask you something, that doesn’t sound much like Joe Biden was involved in whatever Hunter was doing with the CEFC if Hunter Biden is telling him that he is trying to do business with them, does it?”

That is when Shapley stated the obvious: “No, but it does show that he told his father that he was trying to do business and . . . ”

Goldman finally hears the train whistle and tries to get off the track: “OK, well that is true that Hunter Biden does try to do business, that is correct.”
    Too late.

Goldman was citing the testimony of Walker that Joe Biden not only came to lunch on Hunter’s foreign dealings but did so after being told that Hunter wanted to lay the foundation for such a deal.

This is the same Joe Biden who has repeatedly told the American people that he never discussed any of Hunter’s deals and had no knowledge of such deals.

He has maintained that denial as evidence has mounted contradicting him.
Even when he flew his son to China where Hunter cut lucrative deals, he insists that they never mentioned that deal.

There are also repeated references to President Biden as the “Big Guy” in emails who was to receive a 10 percent cut on a deal with the Chinese as well as other benefits.

There are other references to Hunter Biden paying portions of his father’s expenses and taxes.

People apparently were told to avoid directly referring to President Biden.
In one email, Hunter’s business associate Tony Bobulinski was instructed by Biden associate James Gilliar not to speak of the former veep’s connection to any transactions: “Don’t mention Joe being involved, it’s only when u [sic] are face to face, I know u [sic] know that but they are paranoid.”

Bobulinski gave testimony that he met with Joe Biden and discussed these deals with him.

There are also the disclosures that Biden met with at least 14 of Hunter’s business associates from the US, Mexico, Ukraine, China, and Kazakhstan over the course of his vice presidency.

Then there is the audiotape of President Biden for Hunter that specifically discussed coverage of those dealings.

Finally, there is another audiotape of his uncle, Jim Biden, telling Hunter that he and his father had discussed his collapsing financial position and could arrange a “safe harbor.”

The culmination of this evidence was Goldman matter-of-factly eliciting testimony on how Joe Biden came to lunch with Chinese businessmen after being expressly told it was meant to cut new business deals with them.

His son was even thinking of creating a corporation with the Chinese despite a glaring lack of expertise for such a venture. The meeting was previously described by witnesses and discussed by these whistleblowers, but Goldman brought it all together at the end of the hearing.

Unfortunately, that is when Goldman’s time ran out.

A few more minutes and we might have had an open-and-shut case for the appointment of a special counsel.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, as in, execrable asshole. Meh, they all fail upward. In any case will this have any impact either on Biden as the candidate for '24 or even the election itself?

All things considered, I very much doubt it.
