Fox News' Ratings Fall at 8pm
Rupert Murdoch fired his most important anchor just because his ex-fianc´e wanted to cuck him with Tuck.
Fox News abruptly parted ways with Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson, the network's top primetime host, Monday morning. "Tucker Carlson Tonight" aired weeknights at 8 p.m. The replacement show, hosted by anchor Brian Kilmeade, garnered fewer ratings in the key age demo on its first night compared to Carlson's average a week prior on Monday, April 17, according to ratings website Show Buzz Daily.
The program had rating of 0.24 in the 25-54 age demographic, while Carlson's show saw a 0.37 rating in the same demographic April 17, the data shows. The show averaged nearly 2.6 million viewers in total, below Carlson's show Monday, which averaged roughly 3.7 million viewers.
So you might say: The ratings drop wasn't that bad.
But let me remind you: The 8pm Fox show was all the internet could talk about Monday, and Fox News claimed that Brian Kilmeade would address the firing, so the show was the beneficiary of a huge publicity blitz and was covering, supposedly, a hot story.
Well, Brian Kilmeade apparently spoke about Tucker Carlson for five seconds.
What would the ratings have been without that big blitz of publicity?
I bet you that the CNN Morning Show's figures went up on Tuesday.
Fox thinks that its brand is too strong to suffer any damage from one betrayal of its customers after another.
You know who else thought that, Rupert?
Your pals at Disney.
They don't think that any longer. They're in a panic over the poor tracking figures for Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which is their last hope to finally get a hit.
It's tracking lower than GotG2, despite Disney being pretty free and easy with leaks that someone, maybe several someones, will be making their last bow in a Marvel movie, if you catch my drift.
