Democrat Congresswoman Assaulted in the Elevator of Her Own Apartment Building Wants to Know: "Say, How Come This Violent Repeat Offender Was Out on the Streets Insted of In Jail?"

A member of the Regime discovers the crime spree. Or rather, the crime spree discovered her.

Note that crime is only a problem when a Regime member is inconvenienced by it.

Representative Angie Craig wants to know why a Democrat-run city permitted a recidivist violent criminal to be free to attack law-abiding, productive citizens.

You're not going to believe this -- seriously, please lie down on a couch and scatter poofy pillows around it in case this news cause you to fall from the couch -- but the man who assaulted Representative Angie Craig in the elevator of her building has a rich and vibrant history of assaulting people, including sexually, and has yet to see any serious time for his serial infractions.

Hold on to that couch! Grip the arms with all your strength!

The man accused of assaulting Democratic Rep. Angie Craig of Minnesota in the elevator of her Capitol Hill apartment complex has been accused of several menacing, sometimes violent, incidents in the Capitol Hill community since 2015.

Kendrid Hamlin, 26, is due to appear in federal court in Washington on Monday to face charges that he struck Craig in the face with a closed fist when she refused to let him into her apartment. A police affidavit said Hamlin also placed his hands on Craig's shoulders to keep her from reaching the elevator keypad and grabbed the congresswoman's collar bone, near her neck. A court official said Hamlin is being held without bond.

A CBS News review of court records shows nearly a decade of criminal cases involving Hamlin, who is believed to be experiencing homelessness. Several of the incidents and arrests occurred in particularly close proximity to the grounds of the Capitol.

This will be the first crime he receives a real punishment for, but only because he made the mistake of attacking a Regime member instead of a citizen-commoner.

In one case last November, police accused Hamlin of spitting blood at several Capitol Police officers during an altercation. According to a police affidavit, Hamlin was spotted by Capitol police lying on the ground on a sidewalk near the Capitol and taken to a hospital for medical care. The affidavit said Hamlin "became combative" with police while leaving the hospital and bit one officer, spit blood on others and kicked another in the groin.

Just a peaceful protester. Probably just arrested for "lying on the ground while black," which is why the jails are just full of innocent political prisoners.

Court filings indicate Hamlin pleaded guilty in the case and was sentenced to serve 35 days in jail. He was scheduled to be released about two weeks before his alleged attack against Craig.

35 days for attacking a cop.

I wonder if they gave him a ticket, too. Really throw the book at him.

Weeks before the November incident, Hamlin was accused of theft from a Capitol Hill supermarket, just north of the Senate....

Hamlin also faced charges for entering a different woman's residence without permission inside an apartment in northeast Washington, D.C. He pleaded guilty to this and to stealing the woman's computer.

He needed to steal that computer to feed his children. They eat Mac computers, you see.

Court records show Hamlin also pleaded guilty to engaging in a lewd, obscene sexual act while in northwest Washington late last year. Hamlin failed to appear in court, prompting a bench warrant for his arrest.

The best gloss here is that he was just another homeless man masturbating around parents and their children.

There are worse possibilities, of course.

He has faced other bench warrants for failing to appear in court in cases originating in Maryland, Virginia and Washington dating back to 2017. His lengthy arrest record in Washington began in 2015 with a drug case in which he eventually pleaded guilty.

So yeah, this guy has been a persistent criminal, scofflaw, and Street Masturbator for the past seven years and has only seen the inside of a jail for a few weeks here and there.

And Democrat Representative Angie Craig wants to know -- "How can this be? What kind of weird penal system do we have here where the criminals are free and the citizens are prisoners?"

Have you never wondered what effect your party's embrace of "defund the police and decriminalize crime" might have, dear?

Rep. Angie Craig (D-Minn.) called out the Washington, D.C., government for its handling of the alleged assailant who attacked her inside the elevator of her Capitol Hill apartment building.

In a "CBS Mornings" interview that aired Tuesday, the Minnesota congresswoman recounted the moments that led to her assault. She also claimed that the suspect, identified as Kendrick Khalil Hamlin, has 12 arrests and convictions, all prior to her incident, on his record.

You don't say.

You mean, Angie, that Democrats are just letting criminals attack citizens again and again and just letting them out of jail every single time?

Wow! What a discovery!

Maybe you should mention it to your fellow Democrats, huh?

According to court documents, Hamlin, 27, was convicted in December on charges stemming from assaulting a police officer and committing lewd, indecent or obscene acts.

It's very quaint that the leftwing newsletter The Hill pretends those are even crimes any longer, under Democrat rule.

"I got attacked by someone who the District of Columbia has not prosecuted fully over the course of almost a decade, over the course of 12 assaults before mine that morning," Craig told CBS. "And so I think we have to think about how in the world can we make sure that we're not just letting criminals out."

LOL.

Am I dreaming? Is this real?

"I mean, it wasn't even in every instance that he got 10 days or 30 days. Many times, the charges were completely dropped before any justice was achieved at all," she added.

Whoa! I can't believe that, Angie!

Who knew that the Democrats' unceasing push to end bail, to reduce criminal penalties, and to empty the prisons -- they call this "decareration," so people don't realize they're talking about just throwing open the doors of the prisons and letting all the thugs, killers, and r@pists out to attack the citizenry -- would have actual effects beyond social media virtue signalling?!

Craig, who is entering her fifth year in Congress, further noted that lawmakers need to figure out ways to get repeat offenders off the streets and address available resources for them.

"We have to get these repeat offenders off the streets. We also have got to figure out how we get people the mental health and addiction help that they need because these people are getting back out and just recommitting the same crimes over and over and over again," Craig added.

Well, just spitballing here, but you could try... opposing the entire Democrat agenda of the past three years.

The DC Council voted to reduce penalties for serious crimes even further. The House voted to "disapprove" of these changes -- Congress has to bless changes to DC law -- but the Democrat-held Senate will approve them.

And even if a couple of Democrats or independents flip to vote to disapprove the changes -- the leftwing extremist Biden has stated that DC's sovereignty must be "respected," though he stopped short of promising a veto.

The House voted 260-162 to pass the disapproval resolution against a D.C. bill to allow noncitizen voting, with 42 House Democrats voting in favor of the Republican-led measure. The chamber also voted 250-173 to pass a second disapproval measure against a rewrite of the D.C. criminal code, which 31 House Democrats supported.

Democratic Whip Katherine M. Clark, D-Mass., had urged her colleagues to vote against both resolutions, which now head to the Democrat-controlled Senate.

...

Any resolutions would need to be approved by President Joe Biden, whose administration sent out a statement of policy earlier this week opposing both House resolutions. The administration said in a statement the measures are "clear examples of how the District of Columbia continues to be denied true self-governance and why it deserves statehood," but did not explicitly say whether he would veto them.

Maybe the crime victim Angie Craig can talk to Schumer and Biden about this?
