The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition
Imagine a Vatican City that had been conquered by a Muslim army 1,000 years after the Sistine Chapel had been built. They built a mosque on top of it, but then were thrown out of the city by a resurgent Christianity.
Now multiply the religious importance of the Vatican by 1,000, and you will have some sense of how important the Temple Mount is to Judaism. It is the biblical sight of Abraham's demonstration of his devotion to G-d: where he was going to sacrifice his son Isaac. It is the root of Judaism.
And it was old before Islam came into being. The first Temple was built there, and then destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BC. And the second Temple was built there, and destroyed by the Romans in the year 70...500 years before the birth of Mohamed.
1,900 years later a Jewish army retook the Temple Mount, and made good on the Jewish yearning for a complete homeland that included the most holy site in Judaism. L'Shana Haba'ah B'Yerushalayim means, "Next year in Jerusalem," and it is a part of Jewish ritual!
But not if the United Nations can do something about it.
Israel's UN Ambassador: Emergency Security Council Meeting on Temple Mount Visit 'Pathetic'
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan on Thursday slammed the emergency UN Security Council meeting on an Israeli minister’s visit to the Temple Mount as “pathetic” and based on a “fabrication.”
“To hold a Security Council session on a non-event is truly absurd,” Erdan said at a press stakeout before the meeting. “Israel’s Minister of National Security’s visit to the Temple Mount lasted 13 minutes in a peaceful and orderly fashion, without causing any destruction. This visit was not an incursion into Al-Aqsa or any other fabrication that the Palestinians branded his visit. Minister Ben-Gvir’s visit was in line with the status quo, and whoever claims otherwise is only inflaming the situation.”
"To The Victor Go The Spoils." That Israel has accommodated the Arab mob to such an extent that Jews are barred from praying at their most holy site is offensive in the extreme. It is a failure of vision among Israel's leaders, who have never embraced the concept of total victory.
But the United Nations, in its typical virulent Jew-hate has decided that the mere presence of a Jew on the Temple Mount is offensive to their implicit belief that Hitler should have finished the job. it is a source of endless frustration and anger among the bien pensants of the left that those pesky Jews managed to regain their ancestral homeland by beating the snot out of the Arab world's armies...not once, but four times! Not to mention a concerted terrorist effort to destabilize Israel that has been supported by those very same people in the United Nations who are in an uproar that a filthy Jooo had the effrontery to enter the Temple Mount.
Israel should tell the United Nations that they are now going to reevaluate the arrangement that allows the Jordanian Waqf to administer the Temple Mount, reiterating that it is a privilege, not a right, and that Israel is the sole arbiter of what happens in Israel.
And in a perfect world the Dome of The Rock -- the mosque built in 685 -- would be removed and rebuilt in Jordan or Saudi Arabia.
Of course with the terrible aim of the Arab terrorist missiles, it is only a matter of time before one lands squarely on the Dome, and wouldn't that be a terrible thing!
