This is disgusting: USAToday's headline speaks of mass-murderer and child-maimer Darryl Brooks -- who drove his car into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, killing six and injuring 62 more, driving over the faces of children -- offering a "tearful" opening statement and saying there are "two sides to every story."

Really.

Really.

This story is repulsive, but it's emblematic of our times: a woman was viciously beaten and r4ped in California, just hours after he'd been released from jail.

A Torrance woman is speaking out after being tackled, beaten, and raped while walking her two dogs in a nearby park.

The July 31 attack left Marissa Young with missing teeth, broken bones, deep bruises and physical and emotional scars. For about a month afterward, she was partially blind.

A ghastly picture at the site shows her face pounded into a mass of purple bruises.

The horrific attack went on for about 30 agonizing minutes.

"He asked -- well told -- me to perform oral sex on him, which is when I bit his penis as hard as I could - to try to bite it off in the hopes that he would run away. It did not come off -- it just injured him severely -- it just angered him and enraged him -- he beat me even more severely," she said. "He was able to continue the rape even though he was severely injured in that sense."

After the attack, he left her on the ground, bloodied and naked from the waist down.

"For whatever reason, he decided not to kill me and said 'You can go now,' and pointed out my keys in the grass," Marissa said.

She said she ran to a nearby home, eventually persuading the resident to let her inside and call 911.

Many of her injuries were on the left side of her face because her attacker was right-handed, and used that fist to pummel her face more than a dozen times.

The alleged homeless attacker, 46-year-old Darrell Waters, had just been released from jail for a misdemeanor hours earlier. He is now being held without bail.

Speaking of crime in California: Los Angeles residents may be so sick of crime they're willing to do the unthinkable -- vote against the black leftwing woman Democrat Karen Bass in favor of white male Republican (spit) Rick Caruso.

She had had a double digit lead on him, but now... trails.

Dredging up the specific numbers in the poll, Caruso has suddenly opened up a 40-37 lead over Bass, with 24% remaining undecided with only three weeks to go. That should be particularly worrisome for Bass because those who would normally be inclined to continue voting for Democrats should have made up their minds well before now. And those undecided voters may be getting ready to break in the other direction.

Racism is still very real in Los Angeles -- forcing Rick Caruso to deny his heritage and attempt to "pass" as a non-white man. During a debate, he was forced to undergo the humiliation of insisting that he was not a white man at all, but in fact Italian.

Sean Patrick Malone is the chair of the DCCC, the Democrats' Congressional campaign arm. He represents NY-17, comprising parts of the lower Hudson Valley, which has voted overwhelming for Democrats since around the time Ichabod Crane went missing after an encounter with a rider with a flamboyant haberdasher.

In the latest sign that New York voters are fed up with Democrats ignoring the core crime and inflation issues that mean the most to them heading into the polls on Nov. 8, Republican challenger Mike Lawler has a real chance to topple the House Democrats' chief campaign chief, five-term incumbent Rep. In what is shaping up to potentially be a "red wave" election, an independent analysis released Monday rates that race for the 17th Congressional District just north of New York City as a toss-up.

The nonpartisan Cook Political Report changed its rating for NY-17 in the Hudson Valley from "lean Democrat" to "toss-up" after seeing how much money Republican groups are pouring into the race and how Democrats are playing defense on pressing voter issues including inflation and crime, which have been their primary concerns, according to several recent polls.

A House Republican super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund, is spending $4 million in ads blasting Maloney for saying, during a 2018 debate for state attorney general, that he supported the campaign to eliminate cash bail.

Maloney now counters that he insisted there should be safeguards in the state law approved in 2019 to keep dangerous people off the streets, while not keeping poor defendants locked up simply because they lacked cash to post bail.

Don LeMon really wants you to believe he wasn't demoted.

Don Lemon says hosting a primetime program on CNN took a toll on his emotions. He says the grind is the reason for his forthcoming move to morning television.

"Look, has it been frustrating over the last couple of years having to deal with politics in the way it's been dealt with in primetime? Yes. Was I tired of it? In some ways, yeah it's gotten old," Lemon told the Semafor news outlet. "I would be lying to you if I didn't say that was a factor [in moving to mornings.]

That's a long and dishonest way of saying CNN demoted him.

"I would be lying to you" if I didn't say this thing which is also a lie said the guy who literally lies every single day on camera and sometimes in legal depositions.
