Videogame Channel G4TV Shuts Down, Again, This Time Due to Fatal Wokeness

G4TV, the channel rebooted by Comcast, had trouble standing out in a world in which there are hundreds of great reviewer with their own channels, and thousands of people on Twitch streaming their videogame play.

To draw attention, executives apparently authorized a belligerent woke lesbian calling herself "Frosk" to mount a Gamergate-style attack the audience as woman-abusers.

This Plan for Success did not succeed as planned.

And now, the rebooted zombie brand is shuttered and put back into the grave again.

Comcast cited poor viewership and failure to generate income at even a break-even level as the reason for the cancellation.

Ah, but why was viewership so poor?

True, they always had an uphill climb. They were spending lots of money to replicate what hundreds of wildcat videogame reviewers were doing very cheaply with far less staff to pay.

The problem came when some of its "talent" decided that the network that was there for the sole purpose of covering escapism and e-sports should be used as a soapbox for social justice politics.

This reared its ugly head when Indiana "Frosk" Black went on a tired rant about "sexism in gaming" where she effectively attacked G4's audience as being sexist and misogynistic and ending the wildly feminist rant by advising viewers that if they don't like her they can go watch something else.

Viewers proceeded to take her up on the offer, and over the course of the following months, G4 bled viewers heavily. No matter what they did, they couldn't staunch the loss.

First, this lead to mass layoffs at the company in September but it was who wasn't among those layoffs that made the network look even worse. Black, the source of the departure of G4's audience, kept her job. Her reaction of bragging that she didn't lose her job while others did only made the network look worse. At that point, people were rooting for G4's failure.

I recounted the tale of Frosk's rant, and her eventual firing, a month ago. G4TV laid off a lot of staff; it wasn't a good sign for their future.

Frosk is widely blamed for G4TV's failure. In the face of that blame, Frosk is now letting out a little secret. Well, it's a little secret, assuming it's true, and not something she just made up to deflect blame from herself.

She now claims her entire Anita Sarkesian-style anti-male rant was approved at the the "all executive show runners" for the show, X-Play, on which she offered the business-killing rant.

My Sexism in Gaming segment was approved by all executive show runners in X-Play. When I was originally hired and cast, G4 made the internal statement that diversity and inclusion was what it was built on to fix the past. I was fully supported initially until doxxing/threats.

Then I asked for support multiple times and was ignored or directly lied to about support coming. No guidelines. No plans. No help. Then management changed and it became openly hostile.

I'm not sure that's true. We'll have to see what the showrunners she just threw under the bus have to ay about it.

In the meantime, another Woke Corporate Product is dead, and good riddance.

Brandon Morse at RedState sums up:

This is the pattern for every social justice takeover of any company no matter what the product is; "the consumer is not our consumer." From the largest corporation to the small company, if you alienate the people you’re trying to sell things to, then you'll have no one to sell anything to. This is the essence of the "get woke, go broke" lesson.

Social justice is not there to sell anything but an idea, and a bad one to boot. Any business tempted to begin using its platform to preach the divisive message should never be surprised to find its audience divided away from it. It's that simple.

I'm not sure what Brandon Morse means by "The consumer is not our consumer." He could mean, I think, one of two things, or maybe both:

1. No matter what the actual income-providing audience is for any SJW-infected media venture, the real audience the SJW staff is playing to is other SJWs, are are small in number. Furthermore, they are usually broke-asses living six to an apartment and do not have money to spend on the product. Further furthermore, SJWs have zero interest in most media outside of a few niche ones. Their main interest in political ideology and propaganda. One type of media they especially despise is that which appeals to young white men, which makes it all the more perplexing why these companies keep hiring them for positions in that kind of media.

But which might be explained by:

2. SJWs and their DEI allies are very good at convincing stupid, weakling men that hobbies and entertainments chiefly patronized by boys and men are missing half of the audience, and that women would just love to read superhero comic books (which are just male combat fantasies with Lucha Libre wrestling storylines) and just love to play violent first-person shooter videogames and would just love to watch violent action movies. You just have to change little things, like making all of the heroes women and all of the sniveling, cringing villains men, and then women will come flocking, and you'll double your audience size.

SJWs keep selling this absurd non-theory (it's not a theory because no one even believes it) no matter how many times it's proven to lose business: Women do not suddenly decide they love violent action movies just because there's a Badass Girlboss Hero ripping off men's genitals, and meanwhile the actual audience which had previously existed flees.

Corporations keep "believing" this fairy tale because they are made up of weak men with no chests who cannot say "No" to anyone in an Checklist Privileged category. The sting of losing social favor would be just too much to bear!

So instead they consign their corporations, and the shareholders they have a legal responsibility towards, to one catastrophic failure after the next.

Update: I should have mentioned: Lunatic SJW no-talent videogame monkey Adam Sessler is another huge reason for the site's failure. He sits on Twitter all day wishing that his Republican relatives would drink piss and die (seriously); he's been on a 24 jag telling conservative critics that he will Fight Them and that they should have sex with their relations.

A real charmer. A real asset for any brand.
