The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

"The next five years of your life will be full of rules you disagree with, I'm sure of it. This is the second chance that you've asked for. You don't get a third." Polk County District Judge David Porter

*

Quote II

“I have written many articles about the absolutely ludicrous ways in which DEI [Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)] is … enforcing ridiculous notions about both keeping people out of physics who should be in, and trying to interfere with meritocracy and interfere [with] and take over the appointment process so that merit isn’t the crucial factor,” Lawrence Krauss

(H/T Hrothgar)

*

Quote III

“States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden Administration’s open border policies." Gov. Ron DeSantis'communications director, Taryn Fenske

While they were drinking coffee and eating donuts something dubious happened to the SFPD. Thieves Steal SFPD’s Catalytic Converters Right in Front of the Station

A veteran officer at the SFPD was quoted as saying he doesn’t believe they will ever be recovered.ngry about your catalytic converter being stolen? San Francisco police can now relate. Four marked police vehicles—two vans and two trucks—all had their catalytic converters stolen right in front of a law enforcement building early Monday morning. As Mission Local reports, authorities have yet to apprehend any suspects.

The incident highlights how brazen thieves of the emissions control device have gotten. Catalytic converters contain precious metals and they are relatively easy to remove from a vehicle with the right tools. Thefts of catalytic converters from hybrid cars and vehicles with high ride heights are especially common. Converters from hybrids typically contain more of the metals and high-riding vehicles—like vans and trucks—don't need to be jacked up to access the valuable devices.

After more than a decade on the job, decoy cop car heads for retirement

A decoy cop car that has moved around the Lakeside and Somers area since 2008 has run out of luck.

That’s according to Lakeside Somers Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ali Coleman, who said the beloved 1995 Ford Crown Victoria named “Lucky” has accumulated too many needed repairs forcing its retirement.

Lucky was introduced after community members organized an effort to help curb speeding through the area. According to a 2008 article from West Shore News, Debra Newell came up with the idea after seeing a photo of Lake County Sheriff reserve patrolman Martin Tetachuk standing next to his police car. After the car was officially retired and up for auction a few years later, Tetachuk approached the sheriff’s department about putting in a bid. They decided to gift the car to Lakeside in hopes of it helping to slow traffic.

She should be happy. Some people are never reunited with their luggage.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The stress an air traveler felt the last 12 days subsided Monday afternoon when the suitcase containing a vital item finally arrived at her Austin home.

Emily Tuite described the days leading to this moment as “traumatic,” because the bright blue bag she checked for her Sept. 1 flight from Austin to San Diego had her waterproof prosthetic leg inside it. She planned to use the costly, custom medical device to do everything from swim in the Pacific Ocean to shower. However, the critical piece of luggage never made it to her final destination, which she said ruined her trip because of all the time she spent unsuccessfully trying to find it.

“It can take over a year to have a leg made. It’s not easy with insurance to have medical devices remade for you,” Tuite said. “I was like I need to do everything in my power to get the bag back somehow, so, yeah, I did a lot to get there.”a year to have a leg made. It is looking like a rail strike thanks to Commie Senator Bernie Sanders.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Wednesday blocked a Republican request to force railroad workers and companies to accept the recommendations of a nonpartisan panel to avoid a strike that would impact millions of Americans.

Sanders stood up on the floor to block the speedy approval of the resolution — introduced by Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee ranking member Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) — that would require railroad workers to adopt the outlines of a labor deal.

He argued that railroad companies are making huge profits and should start treating their workers more fairly.

Just another example of the double standard in our country.

The office stated (pdf) on Sept. 12 that an investigation had determined the unnamed assistant U.S. attorney exposed themselves in a public place and then “sexually assaulted a civilian while on a date,” which it noted was “in violation of state law and federal regulations governing off-duty conduct.”

After an investigation, the office also found that the assistant U.S. attorney “lacked candor in discussing” the incident with investigators.

“Criminal prosecution of the [assistant U.S. attorney] was declined,” the report reads.

Marking Their Territory

And in totally-radical-toilet news:

Female students at one of Latin America’s top Universities say trans activists staged a coup of a single-sex washroom on their campus,

It started, you see, with feminist students painting a lesbian pride symbol on a wall near a campus library. As one does. This act of fearless self-involvement apparently inflicted nerve-shredding trauma on the trans activist contingent, who promptly denounced the lesbians as “TERFs, colonial fascists, and transphobes,” before announcing that lesbians are only permitted to use symbols of lesbianism that they, the trans activists, find congenial.

Shortly after, as a result of the lesbian symbol that had been painted, the trans students reportedly declared that they “did not feel safe” on the campus and went to administrators to demand a gender-neutral washroom be established in that area. While administrators agreed to create one, the students did not wait for it to be designated. Less than 24 hours later, the activists took over the largest female restroom, which was on the second floor of the Faculty of Philosophy.

Ah, the life of the mind.

Right time, right place. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Spirit Airlines flight 1691 landed last Thursday night with passengers clapping and cheering.

Tamara Panzino, a retired nurse of more than 20 years, told FOX 35 Orlando that flight attendants announced over the loudspeaker about 30 minutes after takeoff asking if anyone was a doctor.

The parents of three-month-old, Anjelé, frantically asked for help as their infant grew blue in the face and stopped breathing.

Panzino jumped into action and started massaging the baby's chest and legs, and soon, the baby started breathing again.
