So, the left has their own version of Project Veritas. This week they released damning secret footage of Ted Cruz. We now know that when he thinks the cameras are off, Ted Cruz says....exactly the same thing he says in public, and the things that the voters of Texas want. Not sure the libs have the hang of ambush journalism yet.

I'm a little disappointed in Cruz. Yes, he generally says the right thing, but talk's cheap, he's a Senator. Introduce legislation. Sure, it may be dead on arrival, but it provides something to point to and could serve as the framework for legislation if the GOP takes Congress in the fall.

Baltimore drug dealers target ‘Lady in the Lake’ crew for extortion attempt

Production for an Apple+ TV series starring Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram stopped Friday in Baltimore when drug dealers threatened the film crew, saying they would return and shoot people if they weren’t paid $50,000, police said. The “Lady in the Lake” crew was filming in the city’s downtown area around 4 p.m. when the drug dealers approached producers and told them to stop filming, or they’d return to shoot people later that evening, said Baltimore Police Department spokesperson James Moses, according to local news outlet the Baltimore Banner. The producers declined to pay the extortion money, the outlet reported.

My nephew is working in the production. I'm honestly surprised that there wasn't a larger police presence, the city gets a lot of money from stuff like this, you'd think they'd want to protect their income stream.

So, you know what the Current Thing is. What, then, is “Current Thingism”? Current Thingism is the default mindset of a certain segment of the American population: typically, the professional, liberal, educated, urban caste of society. Current Thingism is an enduring assumption that whatever the Current Thing happens to be, it should, in fact, be the Current Thing—the issue among issues.
Current Thingism also enables some judgment on the part of the Current Thingist. Because the Current Thing deserves our total attention and deference, anyone who disputes the existence or the urgency of the Current Thing is a problem. The person who does not concede the urgency of the Current Thing is dumb, dangerous, or both. Remember the treatment of those who doubted the efficacy of masks? Those who were reluctant about mRNA vaccines? Those who doubted the wisdom of sending billions of dollars to fund Ukraine’s defense? Such is the fate of those who don’t get in line with the Current Thing.
Although America has many pressing problems, Current Thingism itself is a threat to the nation. To some degree, it is a threat because America is facing so many crises. Current Thingism artificially elevates one political concern over all the others, which justifies inaction on other matters that may, in fact, be more urgent. Some will argue that while the term “Current Thing” is new, the phenomenon is not: they might say that certain issues have always been prioritized over other issues. They’re right and wrong.

Everywhere we look, we find a massive cannibalization effort behind every phony facade, a cannibalization that hollows out the functionality and adaptability of core systems to benefit the few at the expense of the many.

Virtue-signaling isn't virtue, cannibalized aircraft can't fly, cannibalized enterprises are zombies awaiting incineration and those cannibalized by the "fud" and healthcare industries cannot become healthy because garbage in, garbage out.
As the word suggests, cannibalism won't end well for those consumed by the infinitely insatiable few. It won't even end well for the infinitely insatiable few because they're consuming the last of their prey so voraciously.
In the meantime, enjoy the self-destructive charms of cannibalized functionality and value.

It's taking place next week. One of the things that you'll be able to see is Spitfire N3200, which was shot down during the Dunkirk evacuation. Squadron Leader Geoffrey Stephenson was the pilot, and he managed to bring the aircraft down on the beach. He was captured and spent the war as a POW, meanwhile his Spit sank beneath the sands. 45 years later it was uncovered by the tides and subsequently restored and made flight worthy again. Pretty neat.

We Were Afraid Of These Guys?

One thing that the war in Ukraine has revealed is just how pathetic the Russian Army really is. We spent the entire cold war with the image of the Reds crushing Hitler's forces and occupying Berlin. They went from that to what we see today, and I have to wonder just how fast they degraded. We were worried about the Fulda Gap, but if they had tried in, say, 1980, how far would they actually have gotten? That's about halfway between WWII and today, were they half as good as in 1945? Every bit as good, the decline started after the end of the USSR? Something else? We'll never know, but the corruption in the system cited below was present in the USSR as well. Anyhow, a thread:
