World Swimming Body Bans Men From Women's Swimming Events

Glad we got that cleared up: Men can't compete in women's events.

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) -- World swimming's governing body has effectively banned transgender women from competing in women's events, starting Monday.

Right now the NPCs are shrieking that this was decided in Hungary, which their 162.3 build NPC update has told them is the new Nazi Germany.

I can't even quantify what an outrageous audacity this is!

FINA members widely adopted a new "gender inclusion policy" on Sunday that only permits swimmers who transitioned before age 12 to compete in women's events. The organization also proposed an "open competition category."

"This is not saying that people are encouraged to transition by the age of 12. It's what the scientists are saying, that if you transition after the start of puberty, you have an advantage, which is unfair," James Pearce, who is the spokesperson for FINA president Husain Al-Musallam, told The Associated Press.

"They're not saying everyone should transition by age 11, that's ridiculous. You can't transition by that age in most countries and hopefully you wouldn't be encouraged to. Basically, what they're saying is that it is not feasible for people who have transitioned to compete without having an advantage."

The body suggested creating an "open" category for people of any gender, where transgenders could compete.

There already is such a category: The men's category. The women's category is the limited one, because, frankly, it's a charity category designed specifically to exclude men, with whom women can't compete. It's like a 40 and older soccer league banning those aged 39 or younger: The rule exists to make the competition fair for those invited to compete.

Transgenders, who frankly are men, should compete with men, where frankly they'll lose, and actually won't make it past the qualifying rounds in most cases.

We will meanwhile continue not seeing any female-to-male transgenders competing in men's categories. Weird how they claim that sex and testosterone has "nothing to do with athletic performance," and yet there's not a single instance of a biological woman beating men, or even making it into a competition with men, in any high school or higher level contest.

I don't think this is binding on purely intra-American competitions. I think this only applies to international, "world" events.

So Will Thomas will continue beating the shit out of American women. He just won't be allowed to beat the shit out of non-American women.
