Quick Hits

Of note: 10 Republican senators signed onto the bipartisan Senate gun/mental health bill, meaning it has a very good chance of passing the Senate.

The signatories are: Cornyn (TX), Collins (ME), Tillis (NC), Blunt (MO), Burr (NC), Cassidy (LA), Graham (SC), Portman (OH)

… and Toomey (PA). Joe Manchin is also a part of the agreement, which should give the compromise at least 60 votes.

Also of note: most of the key provisions related to mental health, only a cpl on gun regulations. Key gun reg:

"For buyers under 21 years, requires investigative period to review juvenile & mental health records, including checks with state databases and local law enforcement"

All told, a big victory for compromise -- and a feather in the cap of Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy, who curtailed his gun control goals to cut a good deal. Texas Sen. John Cornyn also played a pivotal role for Rs, repping the state of the Uvalde school massacre.

And I left Romney (UT) off the original list, which would make it 10 R senators.

If they pass red flag laws any disagreement with the ruling ideology will be a red flag

They rule through manipulation of procedural outcomes

Set up what sounds like a rational and neutral process and then define the terms in your favor, staff each position with people who will decide in your favor at every step

I mean, they do this with the First Amendment, why wouldn't they do it with the Second? They get people to agree that "we shouldn't allow plainly abusive or threatening speech online," and then within a couple of months, they've defined "abusive" as "denying global warming" and "questioning Anthony Fauci" and "alleging that Democrats ever engage in voter fraud (only Republicans do that, experts say)."

But sure, "Red flag" laws will not almost immediately be rewritten to punish the left's ever-growing list of enemies. Sure.

Sure.

Americans charged--not convicted, charged--with petty offenses related to Jan 6 are on terrorist watch list at TSA and must undergo invasive, extensive searches numerous times. Any Republican who thinks this regime won't do the same under "red flag" laws is an idiot. Or John Cornyn

The left is very open that their only interest in criminal laws is using them as tools of repression against the political opposition. But John Cornyn and the rest of the Liberals in GOP Clothing just keep Making Deals With Their Frenz.

Biden's age would be a major issue if he runs again, says David Axelrod in an interview with No Shit Really? magazine (published by the DUH Media Group).

Former senior Obama adviser David Axelrod warned that President Biden's age could be a "major issue" in the 2024 presidential election.

"The presidency is a monstrously taxing job and the stark reality is the president would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue," Axelrod told The New York Times of 79-year-old Biden.

"He looks his age and isn't as agile in front of a camera as he once was, and this has fed a narrative about competence that isn't rooted in reality," he added.

Axelrod also claimed that Biden "doesn't get the credit he deserves for steering the country through the worst of the pandemic, passing historic legislation, pulling the NATO alliance together against Russian aggression and restoring decency and decorum to the White House."

David Freedlander @freedlander

On @CNNSotu, @DanaBashCNN asks @aoc if she'll support Biden in '24:

OCASIO-CORTEZ: We will cross that bridge when we get to it.

BASH: That's not a yes.

OCASIO-CORTEZ: Should he run again, I think that -- I think it's -- we will take a look at it.

NYT: Democrats now openly declaring that Biden should not run.

Should Biden Run in 2024? Democratic Whispers of 'No' Start to Rise. In interviews, dozens of frustrated Democratic officials, members of Congress and voters expressed doubts about the president's ability to rescue his reeling party and take the fight to Republicans.

They're only able to get a few local Democrats to say on the record that Biden's too old and shouldn't run. It's still very much in the "whispering" phase.

The Soros prosecutor who prosecuted the man who yelled because his daughter had been r@ped in a Loudoun school bathroom by a transgender student -- only to see that r@pe covered up the schoolboard, which wanted to protect its transgender bathroom policy -- has repeatedly refused to prosecute practically all other criminals, including even domestic abusers, who you'd think leftwing feminist types would make an exception for.

But no, she is a committed ideologue.

But she just went Full R3tard by lying to the judge in order to get him to accept a criminally light sentence for a string of burglaries.

Here's the problem: the judge found out, and he's removed her as the commonwealth's attorney for this case.

A Loudoun County judge has removed the county's Commonwealth's Attorney office from a criminal case saying the office has shown an inability to prosecute the case with professional standards, and is "deliberately misleading the Court and the public" in effort to "sell" a plea agreement.

The order was issued by Loudoun Co. Circuit Court Judge James Plowman who was the county's Commonwealth's Attorney prior to the election of Buta Biberaj in 2020.

According to the order, obtained by FOX 5's Lindsay Watts, Plowman says the Commonwealth's Attorney office sought a plea deal for a serial burglary suspect while downplaying and even omitting his prior criminal past and current charges in other jurisdictions.

Kevin Enrique Valle was arrested on five warrants charging him with three misdemeanors for destruction of property and false identification, and two felonies for burglary.

Plowman writes that the plea agreement by Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Michele Burton states that the crimes occurred within hours of each other, not over the course of days or weeks. Plowman calls the assessment "entirely inaccurate," because the defendant is accused of "a possible 12 burglary crime spree spanning four counties over ten days."

...

Plowman calls it "an overt misrepresentation by omission" by the Commonwealth's Attorney's office.

...

Biberaj has faced criticism in the past, including from her former employees, for how she is handling cases and running her office.

One former prosecutor speaking on the condition of anonymity because of continued work in the legal field said they were "pushed to bond people out in domestic violence cases," and that "Buta pushes to let people out generally."

According to data from Loudoun County's Circuit Court, criminal indictments in the county have fallen dramatically, 67 percent, since Biberaj was elected. In 2019, there were 681 indictments compared to 225 in 2021.

Family of a woman murdered last year said the system failed her after her husband was freed following his arrest on assault, strangulation, and abduction charges. After those accusations of serious abuse, investigators say Peter Lollobrigido went on to murder his wife, Regina.

Will he also be reporting her for action to the Virginia bar? Will he also be closely scrutinizing her claims in future plea agreements?
