I dunno. On the plus side, it was directed by whoever directed Deadpool 2, which is a really funny movie. It's also really colorful, which I appreciate. I'm really tired of dark movies or movies where they try to make everything monochromatic or desaturated.
On the other hand, I'm a tired of Fake Action Movies. If no one's actually in any danger, if it's all just a laugh, what's the point of having action and violence at all? Eh, I guess cartoons can be fun. But almost every movie is a cartoon now.
Deadpool was good, Free Guy was good. Maybe this is good? Or maybe it's just another expensive cartoon.
"A twisted new series." Netflix has revealed another first look this week, this time for the upcoming Addams Family spin-off live-action series that's being directed by none other than Tim Burton. The new series is called Wednesday, and it stars Jenna Ortega (from Scream, The Fallout, X) as Wednesday Addams, who is revealed in this first look video + image. The series will be a coming-of-age supernatural mystery comedy focusing on Wednesday Addams and her years as a high school student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her psychic powers, stop a killing spree, and solve the supernatural mystery regarding her family -- all while navigating her new relationships. The series full cast also features Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Gwendoline Christie, and Christina Ricci.
I don't care about Tim Burton or the Addams Family but for some reason I'm halfway interested in this? Maybe the supernatural mystery in high school element, maybe the return of Christian Ricci part in some role. (As Morticia? Put her in really high heels or something.)
I don't have Netflix so I'll have to figure out a way to see the first episode to see if it's worth watching.
But this is what I have really summoned you here about which to ask "Is this something?"
This the newest awful attempt to reboot the Predator franchise, which really needs to be put in a box, and that box put in a corner of a basement room, and that basement room locked and capped with poured concrete. For about 20 years.
The she-ro is of course a Stronk Empowered Female who is also, get this, a WOC. And also, she's disrespected by the men of her tribe, who wonder why a Commanche woman of the 1700's is attempting to Repudiate Gender Norms and become a Hunter and a Warrior.
Are you psyched?
Would you be more psyched if I were to tell you that Paulie, who goes by "The Latino Slant," says the leaked script says that the Predator will be revealed to be a Stronk Empowered Female Predatrix as well?
And wait, there's more -- and that this female predator will team up with the Stonk Empowered Female Commanche to hunt and kill the evil White Man Invaders?
Yeah, there you go, now you all can't wait to give Hollywood your money, huh?
Certain plot elements here I wouldn't even mind so much except it's Current Year and we get this in every. single. movie. and I just can't take it any longer.
