LA Times columnist: I'm unapologetically a racist, but I'll shriek about racism all day long for my paycheck.

A Los Angeles Times columnist wrote that he initially believed that the gunman who killed 19 children and two adults at an elementary school in Texas was a "white supremacist" and that he grew despondent upon learning that the alleged shooter was Latino.

Gustavo Arellano, who frequently covers the Spanish-speaking immigrant community in Southern California, wrote a column in the Times on Wednesday titled, "A Latino-on-Latino mass shooting. What now?"

"When I heard that a gunman had killed multiple schoolchildren in a predominantly Latino town in Texas, I immediately thought: white supremacist," wrote Arellano, the son of Mexican immigrants.

"How could I not?"

Arellano wrote that his "stomach dropped" when he learned that the suspect in the Uvalde shooting "was named Salvador Rolando Ramos."

"We live in an America where millions view us as the enemy simply for being Latinos," Arellano wrote. He cited other mass shootings before lamenting that "a Latino had never been the killer in any of ... the 10 worst mass shootings -- until Ramos."

One quick-witted girl survived the school slaughter by -- this is grim -- smearing herself with blood and just playing dead.

When an 11-year-old student at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, saw her friend get fatally shot in front of her inside their fourth-grade class Tuesday, she went into what her aunt called "survivor mode" and smeared the other girl's blood on her body to convince the gunman that she, too, was dead.

"My sister-in-law said is that she saw her friend full of blood, and she got blood and put it on herself," Blanca Rivera told station KPRC of her niece, Miah Cerrillo.

I left in the string of symbols she sticks in after her Twitter name to signal her affiliations with the left.

GLAAD's having a faff attack over Ricky Gervais but never said anything about Jimmy Kimmel's gay-baiting jokes about Sean Hannity and Trump. The "Butch Liberals" routinely call their opponents queers, and their "queer allies" never criticize them for it.

So I guess it's okay, then? Because it's either wrong, categorically, or it's acceptable, categorically. If it's wrong for GLAAD's political enemies and acceptable for GLAAD's political allies then this isn't an ethical standard, it's just yet another grubby political attack.

BREAKING:

Kevin Spacey charged by U.K. Police with 4 counts of sexual assault against 3 men, and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent

NY Post:

Kevin Spacey was charged in the UK with four counts of sexual assault against three men on Thursday -- as he appeared in a Manhattan court to testify in a separate sex assault lawsuit brought against him in New York.

The two-time Oscar winner, 62, has also been hit with a charge of "causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent," the Crown Prosecution Service said.

The alleged incidents took place in London between March 2005 and August 2008, and one somewhere in western England in April 2013.

The alleged victims are all now in their 30s and 40s.

I don't know what that charge means, and I guess I don't need to.

I have a hazy memory of rumors about some charges against Spacey at about this time in the UK, but can't remember them. I won't even bother googling them because "Spacey sexual assault UK" would just bring up the current story.

But anyone else remember this? Probably a Drudge story, back when Drudge was actually owned by Drudge and not a consortium of leftwing billionaires seeking to Fortify the Election.
