Breaking News from "The Paper of Record:" Hunter Biden's Laptop, Which the New York Times Claimed Throughout the Election was "Russian Disinformation," Is Now Confirmed as Real by the New York Times

Really.

You don't say. You don't say.

Welcome to seventeen months ago.

Now that it can't affect any Democrat's electoral chances -- Biden is not running in 2024; it's an open question whether he'll be breathing in 2024 -- the New York Times finally decides to do some bare-minimum fact-checking and discovers, shock of shock, the thing that was obviously real is in fact real and obviously so.

A comprehensive report about the ongoing federal probe into Hunter Biden’s tax filings published by the New York Times on Wednesday night confirmed the existence of the first son's infamous laptop.

...

As part of their investigation into Hunter Biden, the Times reports, federal prosecutors have looked into emails between the first son and his former business associates that were recovered from the laptop.

Some of the scrutinized correspondence was between Hunter Biden and Devon Archer, who had served with the first son on the board of Ukraine energy company Burisma, the report said.

Archer, who was sentenced last month in an unrelated fraud case, has "cooperated completely" with the feds in their probe into Hunter Biden, The Post has reported.

...

People familiar with the emails and investigation confirmed their authenticity to the Times.

Tony Bobulinksi, a former business partner of Hunter Biden and "The Big Guy," already confirmed the authenticity of the emails, a week after the laptop was publicized. Bobulinski was an addressee in the email threads and therefore could confirm that the email threads he was part of years ago were the exact same threads on the laptop.

But apparently the New York Times thought Bobulinski, a Navy veteran, might be a Russian Disinformation Agent.

Or something.

They never really wanted to talk about Tony Bobulinski much. They couldn't outright call him a Russian Agent, or they'd get sued, so they just... pretended he didn't exist.

The leftwing propaganda media does a lot of pretending these days.

The BlueChecks -- who are the Guardians of Truth and decide what information is permitted and what information is forbidden -- are all stunned.

Including RussiaGater Michael Isikoff.

Michael Isikoff @Isikoff

In the category of - didn't see this coming : The ⁦@nytimes confirms the authenticity of Hunter Biden emails derived from his laptop that had been previously dismissed as Russian disinformation.

Sean Davis @seanmdav

Isikoff thought the dossier was true and the laptop story was fake.

It's time to outlaw this kind of "gatekeeping" collusion between an incompetent, ignorant "press" and social media monopolies. They are plainly just censoring stories they cut against their partisan interest, not censoring "disinformation" or "misinformation" or "malinformation."

They are simply censoring "Information That Hurts the Democrat Party."

What an unappealing, unfortunate-looking woman.

The Neoliberal Democrats of NeverTrump are of course the left wing's eager partners in the suppression of any facts that can hurt Democrats -- or any cvck "Republicans."

David French and Jonah Goldberg were supporters of the censorship of the story:

so much norms and principles

Nick Carroll @LibertyAndTech

The problem David and Jonah had is they tried asserting skepticism at a story under the guide of "journalism is so sketchy now" despite the abundance of proof that was coming forward at the same time that validated that journalism - then sided with the MSM journos on this story.

The problem, historically speaking, has ALWAYS been the MSM is not trustworthy. The instant you're siding with them, you're not a someone to trust on what is "sketchy" or not. David and Jonah knew that. They still know that. Yet they work for them.

Note that French never once offered any pushback against the various claims of the anonymous RussiaGate hoaxers and Adam Schiff -- he never advocated the non-publication of those claims until they could be "vetted."

Quite the opposite. French believed every bit of it and demanded we all take the allegations as true. (Later he lied and claimed he "just supported the investigation" into the allegations he now says he never believed or endorsed.)

But when it came to a Democrat, French supported censoring the story until we could properly "vet" it-- you know, vet it for as long as possible. Get us past the election, and then some.

Every authoritarian tyranny creates a business of fake controlled opposition to pretend to oppose it but to offer it vital support for its most repulsively fascistic attacks on its enemies.

And for French and Goldberg and the rest of Conservative, Inc.: Business is good.

Thanks to Huck Follywood for that last tip.

30 David French is a con... not man... something... and if you think he should be anywhere near your church you ain't Christian, fat! Posted by: In Reel Life (yes, dummy, on purpose
42 French and Goldberg are lazy, partisan fatbodies who try to hide their biases the same way they try to hide their flabby, bloated bodies. That is, not at all. Have a donut, douchebags and STFU. Posted by: Marcus T

They're 50 years old and they're still the little tubby boys who insist on wearing a t-shirt when they go into the pool.

Nevertrump was faced with a terrible dilemma: if even half the things in the laptop story were true, that was a completely damning campaign-ending monstrosity that they would 100% have to condemn and oppose. But they were so fixated on getting rid of Trump and so on the team that they had to find some way to discredit, disregard, or at least find a plausible excuse to not give credence to the stories.

They had a choice between integrity, truth, and honor... and capitulation, equivocation, and weakness. And, as always, chose poorly.

I understand Democrats opposing this: it destroyed their candidate and unveiled corruption and nastiness on a scale rarely even considered by writers of fiction. But the alleged high ground "virtue matters" types? The David Frenches who made a career of trying to be the virtue pope? Just a complete failure of their entire role and purpose for existence. They faced a real crisis of conscience and failed completely.

More, from Jane D'Oh:

@HolmesJosh

So it turns out I wasn't overselling the Hunter Biden laptop despite my "political operative" status.

@JonahDispatch
Replying to @HolmesJosh

Josh, you're a political operative though, right? Just trying to level set. (By the way, I think it's worth covering. I just think you guys -- as political operatives -- are wildly overselling it while playing the just-concerned-about-good-journalism-card).
