Meet The PetMorons

sugar2.jpg

Sort of a long story but in the end you will be smiling. An animal shelter in Independence called Russell at Shep's about a dog brought in. She had been dumped at a local Walmart in a box. It was freezing out. She was in bad shape. Russell said, we'll take her. He immediately called our vet and they agreed to see her right away. She was malnourished, barely able to walk. Tests revealed she was diabetic. The vet asked her named and Russell said he didn't know. How about Sugar (get it?)They started her on an IV and began to feed her. The next day she was taken to a veterinary hospital in Liberty for more testing and treatment. After 3 days she was improving so back to our vet she went. One of our volunteers agreed to foster her and give her the twice daily insulin injections she'd require. Sugar was such a hit that a vet tech agreed to adopt her. A local news station got wind of the story and did a piece on her for the evening news! Sugar is a celebrity! Sugar is now thriving in her new home. The before pictures are heartbreaking but she's doing so much and is a happy pup! Sadly, none of got to meet her but that's okay. A very happy ending for Sugar. - Jewells

It is always good to hear from you Jewells especially when you have Happy Ending stories. Current events and news suck, it's nice to see this kind of story. Thank you.

Mike's "Buddy"

MH:

Don't know if this fits within the criteria for the Pet Thread but of it does:

Best friend for more than 29 years, died this past Sunday. He had been sick for a long time, first with a stroke and the damage it did, then more recently, with colon cancer. As the funeral home was removing his earthly remains, his SIL took this photo. Didn't realize at the time that Mike's dog Buddy was in the photo. Buddy is a hyper active dog particularly when strangers are present. Him lying still with his head on his paws looking up at the stretcher would not be expected behavior. Mike rescued Buddy in the truest sense of the word. He had been tortured as a puppy and had lots of both physical and emotional scars. It took a while, but Buddy turned into an absolutely great dog and was a great comfort to Mike as his health failed. - I post infrequently under the name Agitator.

Our condolences on the passing of your friend. It sounds as if he was a dear human being and the photo is very touching. Good luck to Buddy in his new home.

Criteria? Just about anything pet related will be posted here on the AoS Pet Thread.

Mis Hum -

I hope this picture of Sammy, the best cat ever, brings smiles today. He was the grandcat who stayed with us for a few weeks and ended up capturing our hearts. A friendly fellow who loved to snuggle, he never met a stranger and did not let us dog people deter him from showing his best kitty love to us. He crossed the rainbow bridge in 2017, and we still miss him.

Please keep the Pet Thread going - it's a necessary part of my Saturday routine!

Bless you, Kay

What a photogenic kitteh Sammy was. So sorry to hear he has passed. It's amazing how after 5 years the love of a pet stands out. And thank you for your kind words. It is people like you who keep me going on this endeavor.

The Penny Monster, Mr Tips, Susie Mama, and Ugly Joe staking their claim. - John

Holy moly John, pretty brave of you to submit a photo like this. Such abused doggehs. How do you sleep with yourself at night? Probably with all of these good looking dogs. Thanks for sharing.

My girls, Bailey, Geddy and Charlie, modeling their neck warmers, a gift from a friend. They're hoping for an early spring like their mom so there's posts for the garden thread.
