Quick Hits

Last week, Alisyn Camerata -- whose mental health was imperiled by the firing of Jeff Zucker, by her own admission -- sighed that she's "all out of ideas for what to do about Joe Rogan."

Strange. I thought she was a "journalist," not a politician proposing "solutions" to get rid of turbulent podcast hosts.

But no matter -- because CNN's John Blake does know what to do about Joe Rogan -- claim he's launched another January 6 insurrection.

Due to the humiliation of everyone laughing at them yet again, CNN stealth-edited the headline:

This is a Real News Organization, everybody.

Why are you laughing?

Remember when the New York Times published an op-ed by Tom Cotton, suggesting that it was "time to send in the troops" to quell the nonstop rioting and arson by BLM and antifa?

SWJ staffers at the NYT were triggered -- emotionally "harmed," they said. They claimed the mere publication of the op-ed "put black lives in danger." They demanded the editor who'd approved of the op-ed be sacked -- and they got their way.

And now?

New York Times calls for Justin Trudeau to use force to "quash" the trucker protests.

The New York Times @nytimes

As protests stretch on in Canada and truckers block supply chains with the U.S., some Canadians are asking: Why hasn't Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ordered the authorities to quash the demonstrations?

No NYT SJWs emotionally harmed here? No black lives put in physical danger, I guess?

And in fact, Justin Castreau will be invoking Canada's Emergencies Act for the first time in history to put down a protest.

In invoking Canada's Emergencies Act, which gives the federal government broad powers to restore order, Trudeau ruled out using the military and said the action would be limited in time and targeted to the trouble spots.

His government has been criticized for being slow and not forceful enough in responding to the crisis.

Criticized by whom?

By the media. The same media that actively promoted BLM and antifa and defended their excesses.

"These blockades are illegal, and if you are still participating the time to go home is now," Trudeau said after meeting virtually with leaders of the country's provinces.

Earlier Monday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said it arrested 11 people at the blockaded border crossing at Coutts, Alberta, opposite Montana, after learning of a cache of guns and ammunition.

Richard Blumenthal, recently seen praising the CommunismUSA organization on their 100th birthday bash, turns out to also be a vulture socialist, surprisingly enough. As he was proposing a perilous investigation into the Robinhood.com stock trading company -- which of course strongly affected its share price -- both he and his wife were trading hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Robinhood.com stock.

Did I say "hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stock"? My bad, I meant millions.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.) and his wife bought and sold shares of the stock trading app Robinhood while he called for Congress to investigate a controversial trading practice largely carried out on the platform.

Blumenthal disclosed that he and his wife sold between $1,265,000 and $2,550,000 worth of shares of Robinhood in the last quarter of 2021. At the time, Blumenthal joined a chorus of lawmakers in calling for investigations into Robinhood's role in supporting a speculation frenzy involving shares of GameStop. Blumenthal did not probe the matter even though he was well positioned to do so as the chairman of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection.

Blumenthal's disclosures come amid debate on Capitol Hill over whether lawmakers and their spouses should be banned from trading stocks. Lawmakers from both parties have proposed bills to limit or outright ban stock trades. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.), one of the most prolific stock traders in Congress, endorsed a proposal on Wednesday to ban members from trading stocks. Blumenthal has yet to sponsor any of the bills proposed in the Senate.

Robinhood drew the attention of congressional investigators for its role in last year's "meme stock" craze. Speculators used the platform to inflate the share price of GameStop. It drew further criticism for blocking users from closing out their positions in GameStop shares.

...

Blumenthal's complex financial disclosures make it difficult to discern how much money he and his wife made from the Robinhood investment, though a review of their filings suggests a profit of at least $500,000.

...

The Blumenthals sold between $1,265,000 and $2,550,000 in four transactions between Oct. 29 and Dec. 8., their financial disclosures show.

He claims he's not aware of the trades that are made for him and his wife.

Doubt.

The judge in the Sarah Palin defamation case has, of course, thrown out the case, claiming she failed to supply proof that the Times acted "knowingly" when it lied and lied about her. The judge is allowing the jury to continue deliberating -- this, so that if its judgment is the same as his own, she'll have less of an opportunity for appeal.

The game is rigged. It's time to knock over the board. And yes, it is well past time to make the media legally liable for their many, many defamations, without making the injured party provide all of the evidence rather than making the defamer make an affirmative defense.

By the way, I can personally attest that these special rules protecting public figures are not deployed when the alleged defamer is conservative. They are used nigh-exclusively to protect the leftwing media.

All the leftwingers, like Jake Tapper and Allahpundit, and National Review for that matter, making hay over Maus being removed from the curriculum (not banned --just removed from the curriculum) of a single school never seem interested in the many, many book bannings done by their leftwing political brethren:
