Despite Intense Lobbying By the Democrat Faithful of the Media, Sinema Rules Out Any Change to the Filibuster Rules
Sinema says she won't budge on the filibuster, even if that results in Biden's bills being blocked.
Manchin also says that he hasn't changed his mind on the filibuster.
Oh wait, my bad -- those two articles are from June, 2021, and October, 2021, respectively.
Sinema and Manchin have said approximately one hundred times each that they're not voting to get rid of the filibuster, which doesn't stop Democrats from asking them every single week or even every single day.
And when I say "Democrats ask them if they've changed their minds every single day," I mean of course "The media asks them if they've changed their minds every single day."
The Democrat Party Orthodoxy Enforcement Officers of the leftwing propaganda press want Sinema and Manchin to know that if they don't change their minds, people will be very, very angry with them and Democracy May Die in Darkness.
John Ekdahl has been pointing out the "non-partisan" media's increasingly-desperate lobbying efforts:
Let me point out that constantly asking the same question is activism: When CNN keeps running stories, day after day, that ABC has not yet fired Roseanne Barr for her "racist" comments about Valerie Jarrett, they are lobbying ABC to fire Roseanne. They are keeping up a negative publicity campaign against ABC until ABC fires Roseanne. That is the only way CNN will stop the relentless negative PR campaign, and ABC knows that.
Likewise, the leftwing media is running a negative PR campaign against Sinema and Manchin. Why haven't you changed your vote yet? They are putting Sinema and Manchin on notice that this negative activist press campaign will continue forever, unless and until they give in to the press' political lobbying and give the press' preferred candidate a political win that they can then crow about on Twitter to Own the Cons.
There's no news value in "nothing new to report." The reason to report the same thing day after day is to attempt to pressure someone into a change.
This is not journalism. This is political activism.
Sinema rejected the pressure to change her mind, just as she's rejected it every single day for the past 365 days.
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema said Thursday that she will not vote to weaken the Senate's 60-vote filibuster threshold, bucking her party leaders yet again and dealing a major blow to Democrats' election reform effort.
Election reform effort.
By the way, this is the "Fair and Balanced" Fox.
The comments, which match Sinema's long-held stance on the filibuster, are effectively the final nail in the coffin of Democrats' longshot effort to pass two elections bills over unified Senate GOP opposition.
"There's no need for me to restate my longstanding support for the 60-vote threshold to pass legislation. There's no need for me to restate its role in protecting our country from wild reversals of federal policy," Sinema, D-Ariz., said.
"No need to restate?" Sure there is. The media is going to ask you again tomorrow, might as well get it on the record again.
"This week's harried discussions about Senate rules are but a poor substitute for what I believe could have and should have been a thoughtful public debate at any time over the past year."
She added: "But what is the legislative filibuster, other than a tool that requires new federal policy to be broadly supported by senators, representing the broader cross-section of Americans... Demands to eliminate this threshold from whichever party holds the fleeting majority amount to a group of people separated on two sides of a canyon, shouting that solution to their colleagues."
Video of her speech here.
Below, the raging, impotent, angry, senile old imbecile Biden admits his "voting rights" effort is dead -- he admits the effort failed, and says he'll try again in the future -- then yells a lot to show he's still got Stronk.
A man who has Stronk does not need to yell "Look at all my Stronk!"
