Sing For Your Supper
When we were splitting up the responsibilities for covering for Ace this week, I drew the first post 6PM post, which is usually where Ace starts the decompression from serious posts to the ONT. I didn't want to copy Ace with animal-related Twitter links and Steve Inman posts, so I didn't know quite what to do here. Last night I thought I'd try jokes, and it went well. I got a bunch of new material. Tonight lets try songs. Specifically songs that you really like, but may not be mainstream. I'll start with two:
#1 Tomorrow Wendy by Concrete Blond. This is just a haunting song about a girl who is about to commit suicide. It's based on a real person that the band knew who did indeed go through with it. This song just gets me right in the feels.
#2 Anything by Mary Prankster. IMO the most gifted lyricist to come out of the Mid-Atlantic since Frank Zappa, her "style" of singing is what she calls "cowpunk". Start with The World Is Full Of Bastards, Mercyfuck, Tits and Whiskey or Punk Rock Heaven, but you'll want to go through her whole catalog. She just started doing a few live shows again after more than a decade away from performing, if you get a chance, go. A Mary Prankster concert is a rollicking good time.
OK Horde, what are your songs?
