Hey everyone! Having a good day? Well, we can fix that! Welcome to the ONT!

On The Plus Side, We Whipped Their Ass At Diversity, Inclusion And Countering Cis-Normative Bias

Trounced on home turf: British Royal Marine commandos force US Marines into humiliating surrender halfway through five-day war training exercise in Mojave desert

Royal Marines commandos 'dominated' US troops and forced them into a humiliating surrender just days into a mass training exercise in the Mojave desert, it has been revealed today.

British forces took part in a five-day mock battle at the US Marine Corps' Twentynine Palms base in southern California, one of the largest military training areas in the world, and achieved a decisive victory against their American counterparts.

The Royal Marines, along with allied forces from Canada, the Netherlands and the UAE, destroyed or rendered inoperable nearly every US asset and finished the exercise holding more than 65 per cent of the training area, after beginning with less than 20 per cent.

It's a great day in the all new US military! Look, I get it. Training exercises are designed to be tough and frequently the best lessons are learned by being crushed. And from the brief details in the article, the Tommies succeed in taking out the Leathernecks' command and control elements, so good for them. Still, I wish the US armed forces would get back to focusing full time on blowing things up and killing people, rather than being pulled from the field for a 2 day encounter session because Private Denise (nee Dennis) was offended when Sgt Smith rolled up his sleeves revealing a Globe and Anchor tattoo.

I Love This

It just makes me smile. The music is great, Ode To Joy is certainly one of the finest classical music pieces out there, and what a treat for this crowd in Barcelona. More to the story here, along with links to other classical music flash mobs. I especially like This one.

Oh, and let's give The USAF band their due for doing it at The Smithsonian.

These make me happy.

Texas Amends Its Constitution

Texans pass all 8 state constitutional amendments

I like doing stuff like this by amendment, it makes it harder for for the left to undo stuff that's done by simple legislation. It's a double edged sword, because I'm sure there have been plenty of amendments passed that I would oppose and now they're that much harder to undo. Amending the constitution by popular vote is also tricky. On one hand it's certainly democratic, but on the other amendments, referendums, etc tend to pass when put to the vote (from the article: “Since the Texas Constitution was adopted in 1876, voters have adopted 507 amendments and rejected 180, according to the Legislative Reference Library of Texas.“ ) and context is lost. An amendment mandating that Texas give every citizen one pound of gold would probably pass, for example, never mind that that would be impossible (according to this, that would be about 13% of the gold mined in all of human history, and would cost...lets see, round numbers: $1800/oz...x 12 troy oz/lb...x 54 million Texans...1.15 quadrillion dollars. I think inflation might result.

Of the 8 amendments, I wasn't a big fan of number 4.

Prop 4 changes the eligibility requirements to serve as a justice on the Texas Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeals and intermediate appeals courts. Under the amendment, candidates must be a practicing lawyer or judge in Texas for at least 10 years under a law license that has not been revoked or suspended during that time. District Court judges are also required to have served as a lawyer or judge in Texas for eight years, also under a license that had not been revoked or suspended.

I can see the arguments for, but as a general principle I'm against regulations that exclude people from jobs they are qualified for. If Clarence Thomas moved to Texas, he wouldn't be eligible to be a judge.

What Slippery Slope?

I was told that I was a crazy conspiracy theorist for thinking that once you start erasing history it never ends.

Man Murdered Daughter's Ex-Boyfriend For Selling Her Into Sex Trafficking Ring

According to police, in October 2020 Eisenman learned his juvenile daughter had allegedly been sold to a sex-trafficking ring that operated in the Seattle area. Eisenman, it is alleged, believed Sorensen was responsible for her sale and worked to locate him after he managed to return his daughter to the Spokane area later that month. In November 2020, Eisenman learned Sorensen was due to be at a location in Airway Heights, and is accused of waiting there for him to arrive. When Eisenman spotted Sorensen, he allegedly confronted Sorensen and got into a physical altercation with him. The SPD Facebook post added: "During that encounter Eisenman abducted the victim, tying him up and placing him in the trunk of the vehicle. "Eisenman subsequently assaulted the victim by hitting him in the head with a cinder block and then stabbed him repeatedly, causing his death." Police said Eisenman placed Sorensen into a truck and drove the vehicle to a remote area in North Spokane County where he abandoned it.

So not only did he go get her back, he also took out the guy responsible. That's a DAD!
