The Ballad of Edward Durr
After select counties in NJ found more votes for Phil Murphy, the AP declared the race for him.
Strangely, no one will declare the race for Durr.
It's almost as if the media, including and maybe especially Fox, calls races for Democrats immediately and holds off on calling them for Republicans to give Democrats a long, long time to count and recount and find votes they "missed."
And to set in the public's mind, as early as possible, the idea that Democrats have "won" seats, and that those "wins" are unchallengeable, while maintaining Republican wins in a state of psychological, epistemological limbo for as long as possible, so that no one shrugs when a Sudden Surge of Democrat votes takes those wins away.
Well, finally someone has -- AP declared Durr the winner at 11:30 this morning.
In one of the most stunning political upsets New Jersey has ever seen, longtime state Senate President Stephen Sweeney has lost his latest re-election bid to a little-known Republican, according to a projection by the Associated Press on Thursday morning.
Congratulations to 3D4NJ.
Breitbart interviewed this folk hero:
And he offered Breitbart News an interesting analysis of why he won, and why Republicans did so well statewide.
"The main issue was rights," Durr said, via phone. "People talk about how New Jersey has the highest taxes, and we’re the worst state for business, with high debt, and so on, but bottom line is rights. It's family.
"When somebody’s messing with your family, you'll do anything," he said. "the governor was messing with people’s families. When you mess with somebody's job, their livelihood, their home, their children -- people just won't take that."
Durr said that New Jersey's harsh coronavirus policies had helped create a "perfect storm" that made his victory possible.
"It was the combination of a governor who acts like a king, and a senate president who acts like a court jester, and does nothing. That made it very easy to convince people they were not being paid attention to. And when they got ignored, they got angry."
He goes on to say how he won the race -- basically, footwork. He walked a lot of neighborhoods and knocked on a lot of doors.
One correction he is making now. He says he's "exasperated" by false reports that he spent only $153. That's how much he reported he spent for the primary. For the general election, he spent... $5,000.
Okay that is more but that still won't buy you a used car that works.
And I believe it is still Good Information that he spent half of his campaign budget on Dunkin Donuts.
He made this same correction on Rachel Campos-Duffy's show last night.
I am Throttling this blog's reach due to the Misinformation it has spread on this point.
Here are a couple of screenshots of tweets he supposedly wrote in 2019 and 2020.
I don't know if they're real. I just hope they are.
If those turn out to be Misinformation, I will Demonetize this blog and issue this blog a first Strike.
Meanwhile... in another remarkable last-second, nearly unbelievable come-from-behind Democrat "victory"...
@KenCuccinelli
Saw this comparison... and people wonder why it can sometimes be hard to have confidence in outcomes...
This should never happen.
I just put this blog on a blacklist. No one is allowed to question whether an election is legitimate, unless she is a fat drunken corrupt batrachian Democrat or fat effeminate hissing NeverTrumper.
