First-World Problems...
Well...shit. I booted our old alarm company when they refused to honor the service contract and repair or replace a door sensor that had failed. Apparently they interpreted the contract to mean that they would repair stuff only if it wasn't too old, and since the sensor was 17 years old and no longer made they figured it was my responsibility.
So we agreed to disagree. I canceled their service and hired another company, and they had a regional manager call and beg for the business. Unfortunately for them the new company had already identified three nonfunctional zones that the original company's vaunted systems had identified as working just perfectly. Oh...one of those simply didn't exist. It was listed in the system, but there was no sensor. That was nice to discover.
The new company also swapped the very old smoke detectors for new ones, but the boxes didn't line up perfectly, and now I am faced with a cataclysm of sheet-rock repair, something I do very, very, badly. Although since these are obviously on the ceiling I will run the delightful risk of getting the crap in my eyes, and that is always entertaining.
