Report: Woke Chase Bank Cancels Michael Flynn's Credit Cards, Bank Account Due to "Possible Reputational Risk"

Chase Bank's motto "What Matters Most" took on a menacing meaning this week after Michael Flynn claimed that the bank canceled his account and the credit card due to the "possible reputational risk to our company." If true, the report is a chilling expansion of the role of private companies to isolate and harass those with controversial views in our society. As shown with censorship, such private enforcement of speech controls has proven far more dangerous and effective than the traditional government programs. Indeed, the move would show how a type of Chinese "social scoring" could easily take hold in the United States.

This remains only an allegation by Flynn since there is no confirmation from Chase or additional supporting material. Some have noted issues with the postings to suggest that the notice may not be directed at Flynn. However, neither Flynn nor Chase have publicly denied the account.

On Sunday, Flynn posted a message from Chase informing him that it is severing its banking ties with him "because continuing the relationship creates possible reputational risk to our company." The partially redacted letter, dated Aug. 20, stated that the bank's action would be effective on Sept. 18.

Chase bank has refused to respond to media inquiries on the matter.

"American" corporations are now Red Chinese corporations and it's time to treat them as the enemy actors and national security threats that they are.

There is no reason the US government should guarantee the bank deposits (through the FDIC) of banks which are implementing a foreign and hateful tyranny in the US.

If the lack of federal protection of deposits causes customers to flee-- oh well, that's capitalism! Build your own deposit-guarantee backstop.

The American backstop should be for American banks. Not Chinese Communist ones.

Update: Buzzion says that Chase has very recently backtracked and reversed its Chinese Communist Social Scoring decision.

But they've let everyone know we're all on notice, huh?

Chase Bank also told TheBlaze that "we made an error" in reference to the cancellation letter.

Yeah just like FaceBook suspended the account of the woman whose son just died in Afghanistan for the crime of criticizing Joe Biden as "feckless" and "incompetent." That was done "in error," too.

The Blaze thinks the cancelled account actually belonged to Flynn's wife, Lori. The apology apologizes to "her," and the first name it is addressed to is blacked out, leaving only "Flynn."
