Exit Strategy: Liz Cheney Isn't Even Going to Fight Her Ouster
I can't say I'm surprised to see a Cheney entering a war without any plan for winning it.
So Cheney will concede her #3 position in the congressional GOP leadership.
That's the good news.
The bad news is that a moderate -- a liberal -- New Yorker is running to take her place, and she's got the backing of the Freedom Caucus, Steve Scalise... and Trump.
I have a feeling this liberal opportunist realized that the GOP would panic about the "Optics Problem" of firing a woman from a leadership position -- I'm sorry, are women not allowed to be fired? Are we a results-oriented party except for women? If women can only be hired but never fired, they're really... not equal to men, are they? -- and saw her chance.
I'm sure she's telling people behind the scenes, "If you elect me, your Optics Problem goes away..." and of course Republicans go for it, because they're not-so-secretly every bit as PC and SJW as the left itself. They just claim they're resorting to PC SJW measures defensively rather than offensively.
Both roads lead to the same fucking place, though.
God forbid the "conservative party" should have one committed, America first conservative in the top three positions.
No, we need to have yet another northeastern urban liberal.
Because conservatives are deplorables -- they cannot be trusted with any positions of authority.
Gotta mind those Optics!
Except for the bad optics of constantly insisting that the majority of the party are deplorables not worthy of any positions of leadership.
The only good thing I can say about Stefanik is that she does seem to be willing to fight and to ignore the dominant leftwing Twittertariat.
Which is, I admit, something.
But we also have some actual conservatives like that.
