The Morning Report - 12/21/20 [J.J. Sefton]

blasbohic.jpg

Good morning, kids. Monday and winter officially begins today, while we seemingly continue to plunge headlong into a rhetorical nuclear winter of our discontent, and worse. A number of stories are in the lead and as is usually the case, are interrelated with implications reflecting my opening metaphor. First up, the President's legal team is headed back to the Supreme Court:

The Trump campaign filed a petition for writ of certiorari to the US. Supreme Court aimed at reversing a trio of Pennsylvania Supreme Court cases that "illegally changed Pennsylvania's mail balloting law immediately before and after the 2020 presidential election." The filing alleges the action was "in violation of Article II of the United States Constitution and Bush v. Gore," and "represents the Campaign's first independent U.S. Supreme Court filing and seeks relief based on the same Constitutional arguments successfully raised in Bush v. Gore," according to the campaign's press release.

"This petition follows a related Pennsylvania case where Justice Alito and two other justices observed 'the constitutionality of the [Pennsylvania] Supreme Court's decision [extending the statutory deadline for receipt of mail ballots from 8 pm on election day to 5 pm three days later]... has national importance, and there is a strong likelihood that the State Supreme Court decision violates the Federal Constitution," the press release, authored by Rudy Giuliani notes.

As the excerpt notes, with the multi-state lawsuit led by Texas against PAGAMIWI thrown out due to lack of standing and Roberts plus the three stooge backstabbers looking to preserve the steal, but mostly Roberts plus the three stooge backstabbers looking to preserve the steal, this is the first of the suits brought by Trump to each of the individual states where the fraud was most egregious and damaging, pre- and post-election. I can't wait to hear Roberts' rationale behind his likely move to toss these suits because Trump has no standing either. Oh, wait a second, there was no rationale given in the Texas suit because, reasons. At this stage, it's easier on my psyche and my kishkes if I go in expecting the worst.

Next up, you'll be happy to learn that the GOP has reached around, I mean, reached across the aisle to The Enemy and passed a $900 billion Chinese COVID relief bill. A few more like this and we'll Cloward-Piven ourselves into societal collapse before we even get the chance to experience gulag living courtesy of the Left. By the way, that is the aim; if not in actual gulags (and I will not dismiss that possibility out of hand given everything we have been through this past year) then via economic dependence on an all-powerful central government. Just like the framers of the Constitution had in mind!

Unless and until the lockdowns are unilaterally lifted, our entire economy is on track to be fundamentally transformed (wink-wink) forever, centrally planned from DC to inflict maximum pain on the average citizen and provide maximum comfort for our overlords. No more small businesses, no more self-reliance, no more freedom.

And now, just as two vaccines against the Chinese Lung AIDS virus, which was never the existential threat to wipe out humanity that it was and still is being pimped, are being distributed comes news from England that a new strain of the virus has appeared which means more lockdowns are necessary. Translation: China wants to deliver the coup de grace against the US and the West once and for all, so render the magic bullet - which Trump was never supposed to actually bring about but did at "warp speed" as promised - useless. If anyone reading this believes there is a new more powerful and deadly strain of a virus that was marginally more lethal than seasonal flu about to wipe out millions, I have to ask how the hell did you wind up on this page in the first place?

About the only thing I can say with any certainty is that there is a direct correlation between the millions of Americans who supposedly died from this and the number of votes Polident-Elect Joe Biden received after 9PM on election night. With that as a convenient segue back to the election heist, it certainly does look as if, barring the invocation of the Insurrection Act, the election is going to ultimately be in the hands of the GOP in Congress come January 6th.

Churchill recounted his exchanges with Admiral Francois Darlan, who was chief of the French Navy at the outbreak of World War II, and who wanted above all to rise to the top political post, Minister of Marine. Darlan repeatedly assured Churchill that, come what may, the French Fleet would never fall into German hands. As France was collapsing under the Nazi invasion in June 1940, Darlan was prepared to order his ships to sail to American and British ports. But, in the last gasp of the Third Republic, Darlan finally achieved his much hoped-for political elevation. He never gave the order to sail, and, when General Georges asked him why, he replied "I am now Minister of Marine." He wished to remain Minister of Marine in a new government, even under German control. He got his wish...

... It was thanks to Darlan that the British were forced to open fire on the French Navy at Oran in July, a month after the French surrender. This is a chapter in their history that the French would rather forget (and probably have forgotten). Having at our disposal certain important information as we do today--namely, that the Allies would eventually win the war--Darlan's actions seem to us not only treacherous but tragically foolish. As Churchill points out, however, it seemed to many men at the time that it was better to help administer Vichy than it was to fight in exile for the uncertain future of democracy.

In our present crisis, the future is again uncertain and our political men and leading commentators are making their calculations. The most powerful tool at their disposal is a refusal to look at, and a desire not to hear or understand the evidence which so many Americans -- so many private, unimportant, workaday Americans -- are risking their livelihoods to attest. Only by rejecting the evidence as unworthy even to be examined can these people convince themselves that their abandonment of Trump and of the majority of Americans who elected him is basically OK: Better to help get rid of a man whom they always despised and who always made life difficult for them than to risk damaging a relationship with the new Kamala Harris Administration.

One never knows the future, but given who and what the GOP is, the very people who can at least temporarily avert us from catastrophe may very well be the instrument of our doom. Milton Friedman, PBUH, once said "I do not believe that the solution to our problem is simply to elect the right people. The important thing is to establish a political climate of opinion which will make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing." We have got until January 6th to figure out how to do that.

Four days until Christmas. Keep the faith and keep your powder dry.
