Tyranny Ends When The Tyrant’s Enforcers Won’t Enforce It Any More
[Buck Throckmorton]
Tyranny doesn’t end because citizens overwhelm the tyrant’s troops and then storm the tyrant’s fortress. It ends when the tyrant’s enforcers refuse to shoot ordinary civilians. And the reason they choose not to shoot civilians is because they’ve made a calculated decision that it is now their most prudent course of action.
Newsom, Whitmer, de Blasio, and all the other tyrants born of Covid are drunk on the power they’ve claimed during this “emergency.” They have claimed that by winning an election – once - they may now assume dictatorial powers, ignore existing laws, and suspend the Bill of Rights. Chief among these powers is determining which businesses and lives they can destroy with a simple decree.
Most of the police and city employees enforcing decrees that shut down businesses are just “following orders.” Although they may not identify as bad people, they are engaging in evil behavior and they must be compelled to stop doing so. And they can be compelled to stop.
Of course, there are also still plenty of badge-wearing bullies who are living their best life right now. They get to intimidate housewives at an outdoor park or arrest a small business owner trying to keep his shop open, and for once these cowardly bullies can give it their full swagger, because they feel safe picking on harmless people. They too must be compelled to stop. By the way, good cops hate these wimps with a badge.
Perhaps its time for 21st Century Minutemen. If a flash mob of hundreds of people quickly assembles whenever and wherever they’re needed to protect a business and prohibit enforcement of tyranny, the enforcers will have to decide to either back off or persist. And persisting would require state violence against citizens who have engaged in the “crime” of protecting a business against a decree that isn’t even a law.
If the utility cut-off person cannot gain access, will he call police? Will police tear-gas and arrest 500 people who refuse to let them destroy the business owner’s life? A police officer tazing and shackling a 110 lb woman for not surrendering her business could become as famous as the police officer who arrested George Floyd.
Would the enforcers also fear how citizens, who are savvy about their constitutional rights, might react if state violence is imposed on the peaceful crowd? No harm in that. Peaceful people seeking to stop the tyranny will not initiate violence, but will not back down at the threat of it either. It might be a more prudent choice for the tyrant’s ground troops to just not enforce these unlawful decrees after all.
Bravo to the Riverside County Sheriff’s office for stating that his department will not enforce California Governor Newsom’s unconstitutional shut downs. When a majority of law enforcement officers are on board, state and city bureaucrats will have no backup to call when modern Minutemen stand between the enforcer and the business owner. The enforcer will back down. And the tyrants will be powerless.
