The Morning Rant
You know, they keep telling us "we're all in this together", like we're all suffering equally, but I don't think so. Think about it: Since our country got hit by the WuFlu, how have politicians suffered? How many elected officials, whether at the national, state, or local level, have lost their jobs? Or even missed a paycheck? And not only politicians, but any employee whose salary comes out of the public treasury. I don't think any public teacher lost a paycheck during the time that the schools were closed and they weren't teaching. What sacrifices have they made? How many of them have been forced to plow under their fields, or slaughter their livestock, or dump their milk?
How many elected officials, the ones who issue strict lockdown orders, and then ignore them (like the governor of California) or take a vacation in a more lenient state (as the mayor of Denver did)? Have they had to close their business and not reopen? Have they had to lay off their employees?
So I don't see any "we" here. I don't see them sacrificing or having to go without, or make do with less. All I see is two sets of rules: easy ones for them and their friends, and draconian ones for everyone else.
Plus, if this was an actual, serious, public health issue, they'd be shutting everything down all of the time, no exceptions. Once they started permitting some gatherings and forbidding others, once they justified the BLM protests by claiming that "racism is a public health issue", that was proof right there that we were being lied to. I had suspected all along, but seeing the unequal treatment made it obvious: When they permitted a massive BLM protest in Loa Angeles and did nothing, and then Gavin Newsom basically declared war on John MacArthur's church. I mean, c'mon, man. And this is why I find it difficult to take their edicts and pronouncements about the severity of the disease seriously. If certain, politically-favored groups can get a dispensation from the rules (i.e. Congressman John Lewis' funeral) but others (churches and synagogues) are made to feel the weight of the law only because they're defying tyrannical governors. That's not public health. That's politics.

Friday Who Dis: Don't get Mrs. Muse started on The Big Valley. She can talk the hind leg off a dog about how bad she thinks the acting was. Her favorite target for her ire is Barbara Stanwyck, but she's got nothing good to say about two other co-stars of that show, our Friday 'who dis' Linda Evans, nor Peter Breck, either.
