Quarantine Cafe: Bands You've Been Meaning to Get Into One of These Days Edition
The other day in a thread, Chris Cornell came up. I've heard forever that Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog were great, but for whatever reason, I just never bothered checking them out (apart from Black Hole Sun).
Are there any bands like that you've meant to listen to?
One band I've heard about forever -- my first punk girlfriend would play them, especially "Why Can't I Touch It?" -- was Buzzcocks. (No "The," apparently.)
I finally gave them a listen a year or two ago, and they're really good. They're categorized as punk, but they're a really poppy, harmonic kind of punk. They're more Monkees than Sex Pistols.
Below, four tracks you might like, and probably have heard. The first one is "What Do I Get?," which I'm pretty sure is/was being used in an ad campaign recently.
The second one, "Everybody's Happy Nowadays," was played over the credits in Shawn of the Dead (though the version played was a cover by Ash).
The last one, " Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've?)," I'm sure I've heard before without ever knowing what it was. I think it's my favorite.
What are your later-in-life discovered favorites? Which of their songs have Noob Appeal?
