The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

We think that forgiveness is weakness, but it's absolutely not; it takes a very strong person to forgive. T. D. Jakes

Quote II

Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay. But look for Christ, and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in. C. S. Lewis

Quote III

As the culture war is about irreconcilable beliefs about God and man, right and wrong, good and evil, and is at root a religious war, it will be with us so long as men are free to act on their beliefs. Patrick J. Buchanan

Quote IV

“I don’t think it would be inaccurate to say officers are thinking about how they’re handling situations now … what could happen in a situation, and I got to tell you I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. Learning from situations that happened in the past whether it’s our agency or others is not a bad thing.”Aurora Police Deputy Chief Darin Parker

One nice thing about getting away for a period of time I got to escape the thoughts of "We are not going to vote our way out of this shit".

The Adverse Effects of Obama’s Executive Order 13583 and the Purge of Generals and Admirals Are Now Obvious

Two disastrous actions taken by Barack Hussein Obama during his presidency have delivered extensive damage to the US military, just as planned. The first was the systematic purging of nearly 200 senior officers over five years and their subsequent replacement by Democrat loyalists, as reported here. His second ignominious action taken was the 2011 Executive Order 13583 directing “government-wide diversity and inclusion training,” which, by 2020, included the implementation of Marxist critical race theory training in all federal agencies including the US military services.

The results from these actions are now crystal clear. Retired Obama-era flag and general officers (FOGO), in direct violation of Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, have publicly criticized President Trump and even called him a threat to US national security, as noted here and here. Several may even be preparing for a military coup, as reported in this shocking video from Col Richard H. Black, JAG Corps, USA (retd), a former head of the Army’s Criminal Law Division:

You have nothing to fear, but fear itself and incompetent government. BIRM

Thousands of North Carolina residents were recently told they had positive coronavirus tests, but it was a mistake.

More than 6,700 individuals in Mecklenburg County in North Carolina were told in a text message sent from Mecklenburg County Health Department on Friday that they tested positive for COVID-19 and over 500 people were told through a county email that they were also infected with the novel coronavirus. But the results were incorrect due to a technical error by Health Space, the company they use for contact tracing, according to a statement on the county’s website.

“An error during routine maintenance last Friday resulted in a county data vendor sending erroneous texts and email messages to people saying they were positive for COVID-19," the statement on the county website said.

Yawn. Climate Change and the Map of Doom. Doom I say.

According to new data from the Rhodium Group analyzed by ProPublica and The New York Times Magazine, warming temperatures and changing rainfall will drive agriculture and temperate climates northward, while sea level rise will consume coastlines and dangerous levels of humidity will swamp the Mississippi River valley.

Taken with other recent research showing that the most habitable climate in North America will shift northward and the incidence of large fires will increase across the country, this suggests that the climate crisis will profoundly interrupt the way we live and farm in the United States. See how the North American places where humans have lived for thousands of years will shift and what changes are in store for your county.

A breach of public peace? Or just the lack of any common sense?

A filmmaker has been arrested for allegedly recording a pornographic movie at the Osun Osogbo sacred grove in western Nigeria, police say.
The sacred forest, home to Osun, the Yoruba goddess of fertility, is a UN-designated World Heritage Site.
Police said the man, Tobiloba Jolaosho, popularly known as King Tblak HOC, was arrested for allegedly recording a "sex movie" in the forest.
Neither he nor his lawyer have commented.
Osun Osogbo is on the outskirts of the city of Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

Once again we have let the United Nations down. Hang your head in shame.

The world has failed to meet a single target to stem the destruction of wildlife and life-sustaining ecosystems in the last decade, according to a devastating new report from the UN on the state of nature.

From tackling pollution to protecting coral reefs, the international community did not fully achieve any of the 20 Aichi biodiversity targets agreed in Japan in 2010 to slow the loss of the natural world. It is the second consecutive decade that governments have failed to meet targets.

The Global Biodiversity Outlook 5, published before a key UN summit on the issue later this month, found that despite progress in some areas, natural habitats have continued to disappear, vast numbers of species remain threatened by extinction from human activities, and $500bn (£388bn) of environmentally damaging government subsidies have not been eliminated.

Financial health? Or protection from the Kung Flu? So what will the autocrats of California of do?

The city government of Anaheim, California, has asked Gov. Gavin Newsom to issue regulations that allow Disneyland and other theme parks to reopen, after the lack of commerce brought a $100 million shortfall to public coffers.

California’s theme parks have been closed since coronavirus restrictions began in March. While Florida’s Disney World reopened in July, its counterpart in California has remained closed, affecting the local economy throughout the region.

The ONT Musical Interlude

On this day: 16 Sep 1977
29-year-old former T Rex singer Marc Bolan was killed instantly when the car driven by his girlfriend, Gloria Jones, left the road and hit a tree in Barnes, London. Miss Jones broke her jaw in the accident. The couple were on the way to Bolan's home in Richmond after a night out at a Mayfair restaurant. A local man who witnessed the crash said, 'When I arrived a girl was lying on the bonnet and a man with long dark curly hair was stretched out in the road - there was a hell of a mess.' via thisdayinmusic.com

Bob Dylan was at No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Modern Times.’ Entering the U.S. charts at No.1, making it Dylan's first album to reach that position since 1976's Desire, 30 years prior. At 65, Dylan became the oldest living musician to top the Billboard albums chart. (85 year-old Tony Bennett broke this record in 2011 with his Duets album). The record also reached number one in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland. via thisdayinmusic.com

The beach is not a urinal. Genius Award Winner.

A man drank a bottle of vodka, fell asleep face-down in the sand, got up and stumbled around, before relieving himself in full view of stunned beachgoers, a shocked family said.

Admin worker Hollie Hodges was enjoying a day in Weymouth, Dorset, with her husband Craig, 32, and their seven-year-old daughter Lola when they noticed the odd behaviour.

Hollie, 34, recorded the footage on September 6 and said: ‘We were really shocked by what we saw. It was a really drunk gentleman on the beach being quite loud and weird.

‘Then he slept on the beach and he had sand all over his face and he was stumbling around looking a bit lost, so I started recording.

A prosecutor comes to his senses, reluctantly. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

While Mark and Patricia McCloskey are still facing felony charges in St. Louis for displaying firearms as hundreds of protesters marched through their private neighborhood earlier this summer, a man who pulled his gun on protesters in Gainesville, Florida earlier this summer has seen charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon dropped by prosecutors.

64-year old William John Connelly was originally charged with six counts of third-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but the local prosecutor dropped the case earlier this month, telling police that there simply wasn’t enough evidence to proceed with the criminal charges.
