Resist!

Some of y'all may remember that last week I asked for recommendations on where to move. More on that later, but I have to say that one of the places we considered was Idaho.

Lefties are so horrified by this, and all I see is something wonderful. A community coming together to stand against domestic terrorists. Word is that a few vans full of Antifa DID show up, but they turned around at the city line and left. That's just a rumor, no confirmation.

The Center Can Not Hold

Ace mentioned this earlier this week, but I think this story need more attention. Here are a couple of articles:

Questions raised over hydroxychloroquine study which caused WHO to halt trials for Covid-19

Unreliable data: how doubt snowballed over Covid-19 drug research that swept the world

I'm actually kind of flabbergasted, and I'm hard to flabbergast. I'm a conservative, I believe government is corrupt, by it's very nature it can't help but be corrupt, and incompetent too. That's why I think that it should be sharply and ruthlessly limited in its scope and power. You're never going to get enough good people, making good laws, with wholesome intent. Won't happen. Can't, where human beings are involved. The solution is to contain the evil they can do by limiting the range of what they have the power to do. Put it this way: Suppose I tell you that you are going to get hit with a baseball bat. It's going to happen, there is no way to avoid it. The only choice you have is whether you'll be hit by a 5 year old with a whiffle bat, or a MLB .400 hitter with an aluminum bat. Which would you chose?

But this...this is conspiracy theory level stuff. A company, coming out of nowhere, supplying (most likely) false data, and nobody questions it, in fact, governments across the world base policy on it? Without questioning? That's beyond incompetent, it's bordering on malevolent. And why? Who was behind the whole thing? Either the people behind the company were running a grift that got way out of hand, or it was actually done with malevolent intent. And how far is that from Illuminati level paranoia? Stupefying.

Musical Interlude

Someone last week said that I should get Mis Hum to teach me how to add music to the ONT. I can handle it on my own, TYVM. Enjoy:

Self Defense

Guns are flying off the shelves in records numbers (gee, I wonder why?). But what gun should first timers buy?

Gunfight Science: Do Shotguns Suck for Self-Defense?

Guy is not a fan. I think they're OK, but I'd probably rather have an AR-15 type rifle.

Black Lies Matter

I'm seeing some pushback against the fundamental justification for the movement. Here's an article, a thread and a video:

The Truth About Police Violence and Race

What's really amazing to me is that when you dig into the numbers behind the rhetoric, you find out that, judging by facts alone, how very successful the US is at NOT being a racist country. Yet it's "common knowledge" that we have a huge problem with racism in this country. People aren't uneducated about it, they're intentionally miseducated. The media works 24/7, 365 to perpetrate the lie, and the powers that be do everything in their power to obscure the truth. Day after day after day. And if anyone dares challenge the narrative with facts, well, they must be destroyed.

Cruisin'

G.T.T.

So, I talked last week about moving, and I want y'all to know that tonight I put in an offer on a house in Tyler, Texas. I don't know if it will be accepted or not, but we're hopeful. We really liked the listing, loved the virtual tour we took (we walked the sellers agent all over the place for about an hour with FaceTime), and tomorrow our agent is going to take a look for herself. Hopefully she won't spot something we missed (if she does we can withdraw the offer, no harm no foul, w/in 10 days). It's always risky buying something from afar, but have high hopes, please wish us luck and say a little prayer that we get it if everything is as it appears.

That being said, tell me about Tyler. Seems nice, but I've never been there. Any Morons down there? Anyone have contacts? I'll be leaving my hometown of 50 years, it's kind of scary. I'll have to rebuild all the the networks I've accumulated over a lifetime in a new place. Help me out.
